My project goal is to paint line command for my Louisiana Tigers in straw boater hats. My command stand will consist of eight figures. An officer, a standard bearer, and a drummer. Plus five riflemen. I use the Blackpowder Tactical commander rules. Base size is 40x30
The pig has a straw boater hat riflemen pack, but no straw boater command pack. So I have had to grab a pack of US Zouave command and a pack of Mexican heads. I have filed down the top of the Mexican hats to make them look like straw boater hats. Next I have to behead the union figures and attach the modified Mexican heads. Wish me luck.

Paul,
Good luck.
Best wishes,
Martin Buck
Good luck Paul!
Bonus points if you stick all 8 to the base before you start painting them ;D
Simon
I'll have to subtract 2 points though if you stuck more than 2 heads to your fingers, or draw blood whilst drilling into the neck 😅
Not too much difficulty if you twist off the head with pliers. I would be inclined to leave the officer in a sumptuously braided red kepi.
Good clear photo and description of your work Paul. Very motivating.
martin :)
I'm tackling the head swap tomorrow. Sounds like I need PPE!
Philosophy, politics and economics? Thought that was a course at the LSE.
New plan. Not beheading the officer. I went online after Andy's suggestion and found many pictures of officers of the Louisiana Tigers in Kepi and with red trousers. So I save on two jobs. No beheading the officer and I won't have to paint blue and white stripes on his pants. The group build has paid off already.
Andy, "PPE" also stands for Personal Protective Equipment ;)

Also, Peter Pig Exclusive, People Prefer Eggs, and of course, Pithy Pretensious Excoriations.
In the age of covid, everyone knows what PPE means 🙃
Very much looking forward to seeing your end result. I will most likely shamelessly copy what you come up with.
No, honestly had no idea PPE had a covid connotation, probably because I caught it in the first wave last March and recovered after 10 days giving it little further thought other than remebering to wash my hands, keep my distance and wear a face mask. Never been a particular fan of acronyms as too many users assume everyone else knows what they're talking about.
I beheaded the figures and glued on the Mexican hat heads. I included a pic of the super glue I use for metal figures. It's gold. It dries fast and fills gaps.

They came out really well. Thanks for the super glue tip.
Thanks Leman. Trust me on that glue. Especially helpful gluing metal artillery models together.
I've been looking for a superglue that "works" for yonks, thanks for the heads up.
No problems Ben. You won't be disappointed.
Now all I have to do is see if it's stocked in the Netherlands.
great job. I like the Roket line of products, I use their minimal odour / non-toxic plastic glue for plastic kits.
I'll have to check that out Norm.
I have a terrible allergy to super glue which really hampered my modelling until I found the Roket odourless super glue. Problem solved!
I'd never heard of Roket until this thread. Thanks for raising general awareness, chaps!
