Title: Steel Fist Miniatures
Post by: Colonel Kilgore on March 29, 2021, 10:11:18 PM
It's (probably?) good to see another producer of fine-looking 15mm ECW troops:

https://www.steelfistminiatures.com/product-category/english-civil-war-15mm-product_cat-19/

Given the recent debate about pike length, those are mighty long pikes!

The figures look nice, but may be a tad fragile on the table? They also appear to be about 50% more expensive than Peter Pig per figure.

It will be interesting to see how they do in the market place.

I am thinking that this is good for 15mm ECW gamers.
My only reservation is that labels such as "ultimate", "these are the only accurate ones" might appear?

Martin already makes the ultimate range of figures for the period.

So other will always just trying to keep up!!

I'm looking forward to the personalities Martin may consider for the ECW period.

Another period I wish to do.

Cheers,

Helen,

As I catch on what's being going on here, I was just thinking the same thing about ECW personalities.

We need the King, Rupert and Cromwell! And if we're very lucky, we might get Ireton, Essex, Fairfax, Hopton and Waller.

But we'd definitly need to be on the nice list, not the naughty list 😊

Will be lovely to see them included and the Royal Standard Bearer for Edgehill.

Must admit that if you are doing the first civil war, the longest and for me the most interesting one, Cromwell doesn't really get going until 1644. Fairfax, Waller, Hopton and Essex seem much more  essential than old 'warts and all!'

True, Andy. But they are iconic and I'm curious as to whether Martin can sculpt a wart on Cornwells face 😅😂

Never mind. There's always that teeny tiny piece of greenstuff for the perfectionist.

They are very nice but not yet a complete range.

My worry would be that they disappeared before finishing the range.

The wargames world is full of figure ranges that disappear.
Anyone remember 10th Legion? Renegade? And dare I mention Late Queen? Pax Britannica and the various spin offs (Echelon?).

Some get picked up but others disappear without trace........

Make  sure you use a credit card when ordering as they are not complying with the regulations  i.e no postal address, phone number etc.
Only about half of war-game companies follow the law.

I never deal with any company that tries to avoid following the law.

Luckily if you use a credit card (section 75) or pay pal your money will be safer.  Just don't use a debit card or bank transfer.

These companies often cut and paste pages of special terms and conditions whilst avoiding the actual compulsory law.

Too many of these dodgy companies about I think.

I'm not so sure of these, slightly smaller and swords are extremely fragile even though there are some very nice pieces amongst them.
