Title: Removing casualty markers newbie question
Post by: Simon on October 30, 2016, 10:47:37 AM
I understand that casualty markers are removed after morale checks but I guess some sort of markers need to be used to show units missing a 1/2 base.  Have i got this right?

Thanks Simon (also posted question on Yahoo group).

Hi Simon,  and welcome !

You are correct. The casualty markers are a transitory marker that indicated the need (and severity )of a morale test. They are removed once morale test is made.

The 1/2 base is a different thing completely. Each whole base in effect has 2 'hit points', the first casualty removes the whole base (and adds to the victory points) and replaces it with a 1/2 base. The 2nd casualty removes the 1/2 base

Its worth mentioning that its better to have 'extra' 1/2 bases rather than making up units out of 1/2 units (which I saw someone do) , as its becomes harder to work out bases lost at the end (2 1/2 halves aren't 1 base if they are from different units!)

thanks
Simon

Thanks.  I had missed the point above that a whole base is removed after the first casualty and counts as lost for victory points immediately and is replaced with a 1/ 2 bases (assuming one casualty).  I was going to just put a small die on the base to indicate it was 1/2 base but see why that wouldn't work now.

Simon

Looks good and think I can make it.  I am afraid I don't have the armies yet so would there be any loan ones - or happy to pair up with one of the maestros to learn from.  I am in the process of putting together a couple of 20mm plastic/metal East Africa armies.

Quoteput a small die on the base to indicate it was 1/2 base b

You could do that rembering at the end to remove all bases with a dice when calculating the points.

We have plenty of loaner armies . At the moment the format has changed just to be 'open' , not paired just as we have some new starters

Let me know if you can commit to attend just as I have to confirm numbers by mid November for the catering
