Title: Hovercraft
Post by: Hman on March 10, 2021, 07:14:21 PM
Hi, perhaps an odd question do the rules include the use of Hovercraft - Patrol Air Cushion Vehicle (PACV)?

Not explicitly.

But you could count them as a Tank or an APC if you wanted to :)

I agree. Howard they can be used as a gun truck?
I am assuming you have a nice model you want to get on to the table. Lovely.

Actualy I don't have any Vietnam figures... I used to play RECON, in 20mm many years ago though.

I was wondering about using them in AK47, and seeing if the rules might have some ideas I could 'borrow'. ;D

I will have to get a model, and write my own then... ::)

I seem to recall the Isreal's used then for while. The Falkand Islands had just ended and the British army were looking at the concept following our south Altantic experience but decided not to on the ground of cost. As always!

As the subject came up about Hovercraft and especially used by the US in Vietnam, I put a search in Google for 1/100th scale models. Low and behold a company does make 3D printed ones, they are from the US so the item plus Postage is involved, but they are out there if anyone is interested?

Gomi Designs does a nice 15mm hovercraft in their Vietnam Riverine range in the UK.

Your right, their range including their Hovercraft look very nice. Reasonably priced as well.

I've still not got around to buying a couple of Amtracs. I've always thought they would look excellent on the table.

I watched a programme on gun trucks yesterday (recorded yonks ago from the Smithsonian channel). I think I now "need" a pair of them now too.

Sorry, Les - I'm not sure I understand. I only saw the show yesterday...

I have that one on the PVR...

One of the US mini company's (Old glory 25's command decision range) do a whole range of trucks which look tempting but I have no use for at all...

I bought a pair (one with minigun, one with a quad AA gun) from Skytrex in their recent 10% off deal.

They do quite a variety (two types of truck - various weapon combinations), but bizarrely you need to choose "American post-war" rather than "Vietnam" to see them all:
