Hello,
I have a couple of questions:
1) Do objects block line of sight? (I assume so.)
2) Does the sniper team move?
I will try to get a game played this coming week.Martin
Best wishes,
Martin Buck
No you are pushing my brain Martin.
I think objects should block line of sight.
A the moment the sniper team does not move. Would it be useful or too compacted?
thanks
martin ???
Hi,
Moving snipers may well complicate things, I'll know better after I've tried a game. Dummy snipers are another option.
Best wishes,
Martin Buck
We have done some play-testing today. No Lego figures were permanently incapacitated, but the younger members of the family did have a few thoughts (combined within my own below) on how they would like to see the game tweaked:
Main points:
- we found the game played pretty quickly once we had the hang of it - about 10 minutes from start to finish?
- there was very little movement in our games: more target and obstruction movement would make things more interesting
- we didn't feel that the sniper should move: he should stay hidden and reap the benefits / suffer the consequences of where he initially chose to hide
- as pointed out by Martin B below, we need to clarify what the effect of Buildings and Obstructions is in the game
- Obstructions - even if they obstructed anything - serve little purpose being stuck in Column A
- could Obstructions be allowed to move randomly each go (since all are of a potentially mobile nature), as opposed to just when allowed for in section 12?
- if Targets move after a failed zeroing, can more than one of them end up in the same square?
- the winning strategy seemed to be to set up as close as possible to the prime target and keep popping at it: it would be nice if this weren't such an obvious ploy
- rather than playing cooperatively as suggested, we played back-to-back games and tried to improve in each others' scores: this might be suggested as an option?
- this is a good game for quickly understanding the odds of rolling a 5 or 6 on a variable number of dice!
The picky bits:
- page 1, section 2: theatres are mentioned, but no period: I think this is primarily aimed at WW2?
- page 2, section 4: "Target" is used later for both types of target, so it would be helpful to qualify "Targets" in the table here - perhaps as "Normal Targets" as opposed to "Prime Targets"?
- page 2, section 5:
- the reference to "2/3 D6" is potentially confusing: I suggest we just say "3D6" here.
- should be "needed" rather than "need"
- page 2, section 6: F is missing from the list of columns
- pages 3 to 5: I'm not a military man (the keyboard is mightier than the Kalashnikov?) but isn't the expression "to zero in on", or "to zero your sights" rather than "to zero a target"?
- page 5, section 12:
- a score of 3+ allows the swapping of "obstacles": should this read "Obstructions"?
- should read "scores", not "score" in the second example
- should read "each", not "reach" in the second line of the table
Just the job Simon
Will get to it ,thanks
martin :)
Simon are these not designed for Vietnam!

Good point, Les, but not as currently written, it seems.
Simon
Is Sniper still on the cards? Maybe the next but one Mill?
er..yes. I wanted to get SOL done first.
CK games were short enough for gamette play testing.
PBI tended to use the whole session.
Others have done work too. Thanks to them.
I will see if the chaps will do an evening of gamette testing?
SOL first because it is almost done. I think?
martin :)
Are you able to send out Sniper for a look?
I agree...I think SOL is nearly done ;D
Let me have a look and see if there is anything there. My memory is blank.
martin ::)
Found it and sent it to Sean.
martin :)
Veilen dank!
See how it goes Sean.
Others can have it too if they wanted a copy. Just say HERE, although it is not finished yet :-[
martin :)
Some lovely little mechanics I think. Another quick fire (see what I did there?) gamette that will take 10 minutes and channel everyone's inner Vasily Zeytsev ;)
I had better go away and read them....
SOL first.
martin :)
