Title: Confinement again here.
Post by: Leslie BT on October 30, 2020, 07:45:46 PM
So France is back in confinement again until at least December, with fairly heavy penalties if you are found not to be conforming.
Failure to comply with these measures results in:

First sanction: a fine of 135 euros, increased to 375 euros (in the event of non-payment or non-dispute within the time limit indicated on the notice of violation)
In the event of a repeat offense within 15 days: a fine of 200 euros, increased to 450 euros (in the event of non-payment or non-dispute within the time limit indicated on the notice of violation)
After 3 offenses in 30 days: a fine of 3,750 euros and a sentence of 6 months' imprisonment.

So lots of hobbying and gardening for November.

Food shopping not a problem, we are allowed one hour and a time and dated attestation.  All shops other than supermarkets, pharmacies, optician's, butchers and bakers will be closed.

In the garden today sounded like Christmas morning, just nature, a couple of tractors and a motor bike.

Take care Les, can you still get mail?
More figures to paint?

Definitely Stewart.
Tomorrow need to go through the FIM rules and sort out an order.
Have nearly enough for a federal army, a couple more packs of horses and some for the extra bases.
Then for the Mexicans, have a unit of women and then the troops.
Need to model an artillery base for my flat car.

I hope your forced confinement has a silver lining, Les - it looks as though you have plenty of things to keep you gainfully occupied indoors for a little while yet.

Excuse me getting political and grouchy but at least the French government is taking this seriously. I fear that the UK will, once again, move late and that we will suffer as a result. My sympathies are with you Les but I am sure as a veteran wargamer you will have all the resolve that is needed to raise new armies.
Keep well
John

You are right on that John. Look at my local area. BCP. I knew a month or so that we were heading for trouble ! My week off a week Monday, it's staring to look like a painting fest rather than an a Wargames fest. But BCP have be in denial all week saying there is nothing to be concerned with ???
I can see most of this country in a local "lockdown" within a month ?
But until then. I am actually havin my second Wargame since the first Lockdown playing in Weymouth against Colin with the new 2020 PBI rules.
Hopefully might be able to have 2-3 more games before we shut down again on my week off ?
Then I can settle down and finish off my expanding 8th/Mediterranean Army and maybe start on my LW "defence of Reich" Germans, mixture of all sorts for a make shift force.

Not quite as bad here in the northern Netherlands, after all we only have 1 1/2 million spread over three provinces. The biggest restriction at the moment is the closing of all catering establishments, including pubs. Some cafes are doing a takeaway service, but there aren supermarket sales of alcohol after 8pm, kind of forcing a voluntary curfew. The government is currently considering even tighter regulations.

Same here in Belgium from this coming Monday.
Inevitable given the catastrophic situation here....
At least we can still wander around a bit more easily than in France (no written laissez passer required).  But can't end up in the village for a coffee or beer cos all bars and restaurants closed last week already 😓
Not so much to do in the garden now so less excuse not to get on with painting the toys😁.
Best to all and stay well.

For you lads in the UK enjoy your games this weekend but they may be your last for a while.

Hope now time to get my Early Government army up to strength and painted.

I had my last game with my group Thursday evening as N E Lincolnshire are now in tier 2. We were chatting after the game and saying we wouldn't be gaming again until next year. Our thoughts have been overtaken by today's events and something I've been expecting for a few weeks now.

Best wishes,
Martin Buck

Martin it will help the men in white coats decide where you should be residing. Have you been at the turps again?

I have just returned from the wargames club (Wessex) after a Bloody Barons game ( a 13 point victory to the Lancastrians, i.e.me) and at the end of the meeting we all wished each other a merry Christmas (socially distanced and suitably masked) as we don't think we will have another meeting before 2021. Very sad but inevitable, I think, given the circumstances.

Covid has picked up dramatically in Canada as well. A variety of closures here on differnt scales depending on where but total lockdown might be coming next.

So while I have gotten some short (socially distanced) visits in.....no games, no testing the mexiican rules...but some painting in ( acw ships leaving the docks & reporting for duty).

And in amongst everything we are keeping a close eye a few miles south to see how the US election will run.

I think their may have been a Wessex Modelling Society witt some common membership.

I used to go to your club when you used to meet in the Millbrook Youth centre.

Boris could have waited another week or so. Now my week off will be a painting fest and unfortunately not a gaming fest.

That is a pity, Miles. Judging by your recent output,  you should get hundreds of figures done in a whole week off, though!

At least Peter Pig presumably counts as Manufacturing and can therefore remain operational?

I am going to wait until Tuesday in order  to see if there are slight changes or clarifications.
This shut down will be tough all round I think.

We have it pretty light down here, but my thoughts are with you guys. Can't imagine how hard it must be after the first couple of weeks.
I hope you all have a lead pile to work with and hopefully Peter Pig will be able to keep providing to that pile!

Figure wise PP has had a few pounds off me this year. I will admit I will have to order from FoW or Skytrek next for a number of vehicles that the PP range don't cover.
Thanks to Stewart and Simon my unintended desert range is starting to grow rather rapidly. From a few Australian bases to cover Crete game to filling a whole A4 file box now and I would say at least half again to paint up.
But at least we now have the time to do this ?

That's possibly the highest level of commitment from Martin to a range extension suggestion that I've seen in some time  ;)

He has no distractions Simon, no shows, no travel for play testing, no historic sites to visit, no local war-games clubs to support.

Takeaways and supermarkets providing home delivery!!
