One thing I learned from this year, is not to leave it too long to game. Personally I ve become a model maker and painter first this year and Wargames a very poor second.
Most of us (down South) have experienced Martin's Wargames den in Weymouth. Yesterday I and 3 others tried my own Wargames den, in Christchurch. I am happy to say that within the rules and circumstances. Like Martin it can be a relatively safe haven for gaming without crowding each other out. (Rule of Six) is in place at the moment for us, here.
So as long as the rules allow hopefully we can get some personal gaming in, if we have to clamp down again because of Worsening circumstances then so be it.
I think as long as people are true to themselves and admit that they feel unwell in anyway ( even if it is only a cough and cold) before gaming and cancel then that's the correct thing to do.
This way we might be able to help ourselves and game some more.
Miles.
Agreed Miles.
You have of course ruled yourself out of any government position, by adopting an "i do care" stance.
On a personal note, I am not going to game at Entoyment for all of October, because the face coverings will make it hard for me to understand what others are saying.
Maybe the plague will have gone completely by November 1st?
martin :)
Likewise here, Ralph and myself try to game most weeks and have visited close by were we have met the same French gamers.
We have no major outbreaks close to here but feel we should be doing a bit less rather than the normal things.
We tend to only shop when we have to.
So I am spending more time modelling the same as Miles.

So that explains the recent burst of activity on your Allied figures for Crete!
I'm very much looking forward to seeing photos of them all once the varnish is dry, if you wouldn't mind posting a few here, Les?

Hi Miles
More details on your game please
Stewart
Not a lot to say there. It was a 900 point mid war Eastern game. The Union were the attackers even though we only threw 10 dice ! Against 15 from the Rebels. We won by a margin of 2.
Union got the rough hill in the Union, section, the Cavalry and additional Corps trying to Capture the Road Junction, unfortunately failed miserably. The Galant Union Assault on the middle objective didn't fair much better, we got throughly Thrown out!
We didn't do a points tally as it was quite late, As Matt Hay hadn't played CWB before, and my pure lack of gaming time since February. Did tell on US as we had to go through the rules more than play seemingly LoL.
But I feel it was a Rebel win as the losses were heavy on both sides, and the Union only held the Near Objective. Also was basically kicked off the 3rd sector.
From a personal perspective a throughly enjoyable game though. As it was the first proper game with 4 people, sitting comfortably around a Large table with plenty to space to game in. That I have hosted,So to me that was a triumph in itself. Especially in these unequal times.
Hopefully (quite)a few more to come over the Years.

Next time tell Col8n and John to smile, they are meant to enjoy the game

Just to give you an idea with the game and gaming space available.
Please ignore the clutter at the moment. I ve still got plenty of work to do, and things to sort out.
Still needs Varnishing inside as yet and a laminate floor and proper fitted Electrics. But it's getting there.
That's a 6 x 5 ft table with an old "decorating table" as set up and odds and bits space next to it. I can put up 8 x 6(half) ft table if needed (naval, air wars etc)
Also mainly Scenery boxes and also (to be made models) boxes in the background.
I will be selling/trading some of my unmade models if anyone is interested in mainly 20mm stuff.
Miles
I did notice that when I posted them.
Also a lack of Trees as well !!!
Miles
OK so now the low down.
First and foremost it was a great day. Thank you Miles.
The wargames room (not a man cave) is excellent. Miles is the only person I know whose sheds cover more than half his garden.
The game itself was Colin and I (rebels) against Miles and Matt (Feds). Surprisingly we ended up as defenders, which is something I am not used to with Confederates, but the closeness of the scores meant we could get our reserves on quickly enough to plug the gaps. Miles had 4 units of cavalry but I think they were prevented from being effective by our massing woods on our side of the board. Colin commanded our left and much of the centre and defended the central objective skillfully throughout, taking offensive action in the last turn to eject the Union veteran brigade from the farm. I had a watching brief on the right and managed to bore the Union left into inactivity. I think I spent more time looking up rules we had forgotten than moving troops but it served a useful purpose. Miles' dice rolling in the set up was just jammy, but it seemed to deteriorate as the game went on.
I don't know about the others but I wargamed at Lardy Day on the Saturday before lock down. Since then I have played one game of Great War (PSC) until Saturday 3rd October when I played General d'Armee at Wessex Wargames Society (which has just re-opened to members only) so I felt very rusty. Looking forward to seeing Martin tomorrow for some PBI 2020.
John
More low down to come then John on PBI20.
Very heartening to see games being played.
Well done Miles for a good battle report too .
I am playing just a few "one on one" games at the moment.
The games room looks good too Miles.
Excellent all round
martin :)
When you over next Martin.
Thank you Les.
I would like to come over Les.
Early 2021?
martin :)
No gaming at all in Stoke I'm afraid.
It does affect ones mojo I find. The more i play, the more I want to play. The less I play, the less inclined I am to sit and paint.
I really need to pull myself together and get some figures on the table and roll some dice. Maybe another solo game which I video and put onto YouTube. I've been wanting to do Regiment of Foote or Vietnam.
Sean Your always welcomed to come down and play ? These days I also have a spare bed, as my boy after35 years has finally moved out to find his feet !
Trust us Les if and when it is "Safe" to travel, I think small plans are a foot to pop over at some point. But my thoughts realistically now, that could be 18 months away ?
Like I said before I am more painting. Now I ve got my first "in shorts" 8th Army to go with my "converted" in trousers 8th Army. Hopefully by the end of the winter I should have built up quite a big DesertForce.

I for one would welcome another episode of Billy Goat Wargaming. Vietnam would be nice :)

We actually had a couple of remote PBI games recently.
Alasdair is working from his flat in York at present but I had use of Glynis' cloth cutting table.
I have fitted a webcam to a piece of wood over the table so Alasdair can (just about) see what's going on.
I've used the table for remote games in 28mm but this was our first attempt at 15mm.
Worked fine because you can number the grid.
Took a bit longer to play because of occasional slow internet, and relies on totally honest reporting of dice rolls, but better than no gaming at all.
Good to hear, fastolfrus. The gridded systems should lend themselves to such remote gaming.
