Received the rules on Tuesday and rattled through our first game(son, Alex and me).
We really enjoyed it. We are short of medieval bases so we cobbled together a few units from DBA bases.
We are both experienced PBI players, so the rules were not a complete shock, an we easily managed to get through a game in a couple of hours. As always, my initial thoughts were 'how much simpler other sets would be if they adopted square bases and scrapped turning to face'.
My plan to crush the Lancastrians failed due to tardy arrival of my left wing.
Now, more figures...
As you say you have played PBI so yes Martin is completing a suite of rules with a common gaming outlook, but the flavour of the period woven into the rules.
You would find the Viking set, Longships, a fun game as well.
I love Bloody Barons and the others using the similar mechanisms such as Battle in Age of War and Civil War Battles.
BB give a great period flvour (whatever that is ;D) and the scenarios are excellent.
It's certainly one of my favourites.
I will be hosting a game at the Weymouth games weekend in Nov, if you can drop in
Being carless these days and living in the northwest, I have to be careful about planning my travels. November is Warfare, so unfortunately I won't be able to make Weymouth. Hope everything goes well at the event.
Thanks, it's our 3rd year and we have a seasoned group of veteran game players that come every year
I cant wait. It's one of my highlights of the year.
