Just as an FYI at some point in the near future the RFCM will have to move. It has been tucked in a corner on another server that was for something else. There is change there and therefore I will have to migrate the domain and site.
Not quite sure when this will be - but there will be a period of downtime coming up
thanks
Simon
Thank you for all the work you do Simon.
I imagine your work as a cross between the Matrix and Inception.
Tell us what we need to do and we will.
martin :)
Thanks Simon - if it were possible to provide a little warning, we will know what to expect!
And give us all time to think of more things we can ask Martin to make for us while the server's down :)
Simon
it will most likely be later this week. I'm having to do it myself as the ISP wanted to charge me for the privilege !
Thanks for the heads up Simon also.
You no doubt have things well in hand. I am sure things will happen with rigorous precision...😀
Bob
Thanks Simon, do we need to have another whip 'round?
Another thanks from me Simon. You run a great ship.
To confirm, I'll be taking the site offline Monday 24th. I estimate it should be back by Wed 26th at the latest.
As I'm moving the whole domain it will be completely unavailable for that time.
Thanks for the update and all the time and work put into this site
Stewart
Thanks for the update and notice, Simon!
Simon
Thanks for the work Simon.
martin :)
Simon, Thank you for the heads up and your work in keeping the technical side of the forum running smoothly.
Best wishes,
Martin Buck
Simon I hope that all goes well with the site move next week.
When you move the site Simon, do make sure the boxes have good firm bases in case stuff falls out. Don't put boxes on top of other open boxes, they may tip over and spill data everywhere.
Any other technical help, just ask
martin :)
Good luck next week with the move Simon, I hope it goes OK and you don't have too much wasted time.
Just a reminder that the forum will be offline starting tomorrow. It should be back up on the same day .... if its not , give it til Wednesday !
Thanks for the reminder, Simon - good luck!
Simon
See you on the other side.
martin :)
Good luck and thanks for your work and putting the time in to make it happen 🙏
While not without event - the site is now migrated.
Please call out if you spot any funnies
Well done very quick, thanks
Stewart
Well done Simon - thanks!
Simon
thanks - I'm going for a lie down now! :)
Well done. Thanks for the quick turnaround on this.
Nick
Great work on the new site, thank you.
Thnak you Simon.
Does Stewart count as a "funny"?
martin :)
Just crossed the Stars Gate too ;)
Made it....
I thought I was going to be trapped at first, but the bridge of light opened up and now I am here !
Miles
Thanks Simon.... nice bit of work.
Bob
Extra special thanks for amending the automatically generated title of the bookmark from RCFM to RFCM.

Ah - you'd spotted that one too!
It does not seem to have automatically updated the calendar though.

Les,
If you're referring to it still showing events that have been cancelled, I don't think any of us Administrators have the ability to remove a calendar event without also deleting the entire conversation thread to which it is attached.
Either that or we need some re-education, possibly at some camp in a bug-infested jungle somewhere...
Simon
Sorry to be critical of something beyond your control.
Can we blame Dave?

He's innocent. so seems the perfect candidate :)

Since the move Google has started flagging the site up as a security risk (no doubt because it is http and not https).
Using with the Chrome mobile browser
Hello ??
This is getting quite common.
I do not think it really matters unless the site you are using takes any personal details from you.
I visit lots of sites that are not "secure" such as TMP.
Therefore not a problem i think.

It was flagging up before the move as insecure , for that very reason - HTTP and not 'S' - so nothing has changed here. I did contemplate on upgrading it but as there were a few problems with the migration i didn't round to it. Maybe I'll find time to do it later. But to be honest its not critical as we are not storing any particularly sensitive information

I know it isn't really that important, mobile chrome on my tablet wouldn't let me proceed to the site though. Which might be more important (if it stops some traffic visiting) might be more of a worry. Wasn't being flagged up for me before the move.
Yes even the Peter Pig site comes up with unsafe site for me as well.
Crikey
The PP site is https so all should be fine
martin ???
