For a change I need you to type in your answers.
This is because it will not change the answers of others?
There is no reason whatsoever that any members should know the answers.
But surely guessing has its ow merits??
Each question relates to PP and should not be taken as indicative of what other companies get up to.

Hello Howard
Thank you for asking. Very kind to let me have a "drone".
I will do a piece about that and put it here on the site.

Here are the solutions
1. Master moulds usually 6" (very nice tactile size, stores well)
2. Biggest mould size (diameter) that PP uses 12" (that would be for Tiger tanks or ships)
3. Temperature master mould 333' (Good to have a simple number)
4. Figures in a master mould (usually) 9 (This is 3 standard packs)
5. Metal is poured in. 5 seconds. I count this by naming 3 tribes of Israel (thus some spins go on for 15 minutes as my memory is bad)
6. Pewter metal known as "GWN2" . Named after George W Neale. Gone now.
7. Bizmuth metal =expands whilst cooling . Very brittle.
8.PP buy in lots of 200kg (that is a lot of money. Always arrives on a pallet ready for our forklift truck, which we do not have.
9. Cutting moulds = straight blades.(to give greater accuracy on cut start position)
10. Tiranti machine= casting from master moulds (lovely little machine but very light weight)
11. Production moulds =600 psi pressure (that is quite low).
12. Biggest desk = Nigel (ex Barclays bank from Colin)
13. Roller chair Only martin (I can move from location to location just like colonel white on cloud base)
14. Current mould press installed in 1994 (Really big blue thing)
15. First Peter Pig machinery piece from "Fine art Castings" = a mould press. (In 1983 I think?)
Results
Stewart =6
Nick=5
Les=10
Bob=8
I have made some allowances for "yes, that is right sometimes" :)
Good efforts, showing use of logic, knowledge and "what the heck".
Thanks for taking part
martin
Martin - that's fascinating, thanks.
And apologies for not handing in my homework on time on this occasion. I think the dog has it somewhere...
Simon
Cue "roller chairs for all" campaign. How will Mike and Nigel decide who will throw themselves under the Queen's horse? In 100 years time where will the commemorative statues to the brave rollerchairettes be sited?
What colour secret ribbons to be worn to show solidarity with the rollerchairette movement at Salute?
Oh well, it's the taking part that counts.
Nick
Thanks Martin....interesting insight. (Only mold making we did was with rubber that didn't require a press....and gravity casting.)
I too would like to jump on the wheels for all the chairs campaign. 😀
Old bank desk.... probably built well too...
And 12" largest molds... totally forgot about the tanks too.
I could get roller chairs for all, but mine would need to be just a little higher I feel. :)
Bob and Radar are going on the "list" of potential troublemakers (there are about 50 people already in there.) :)
martin
You'll be running out of space on that naughty step soon, Martin :)
Simon
Hey I just got here....!😇
I mean consider...anyone with caster on the chair will obviously be more productive....& I am sure Martin they can find you bigger casters for your "Peter Pig command console".
