Title: Letters QUIZ
Post by: martin goddard on May 01, 2020, 09:13:21 AM
Letters that stand for words (Acronyms)
The trouble with acronyms is that the same ones are often used by different groups to mean totally different things.  e.g. PPE usually means Peter Pig Equipment   packs   and now it is widely being used for Poly Pipe Extrusion. Whatever next?

These questions refer to gaming and military. It is Ok not to get the correct smelling.
Note that acronyms are a very modern idea. The Assyrians did not bother with them at all.

1.APDS
2. RPG
3. CSN
4. SS
5. WOTR
6. PBI
7. MACV
8. SBS
9.BAIT

11. MBT

13.WP
14. ATGW
15.HESH
16.BCE
17.MiG
18. NATO

Members here should get about 11 correct in order to be able to bore passers by. :)

Did give me the best laugh in weeks though! ;D

I think John did better than you did, Martin  :)

I scored 13 compared to yours, and kicked myself for a few more that I should have immediately known. I forgive myself for not knowing SS and MiG in their native languages, though.

I did quite well, although I've never played WRG Modern rules.

I once wrote SNAFU on the "handover" board at work with a comment on plant breakdown and was interrogated by management as to its meaning  on my return. ;D.

Thank you and regards,
Martin Buck

Don't think I got more than about 12 to be honest.
Must try harder.
