Title: Late WWI Germans project (not PP)
Post by: pbeccas (Paul) on April 22, 2020, 08:37:43 AM
Hi all

Warning - not PP

I am doing a WWI German project over on YouTube.  Figures are 28mm.  I do short 3min vids for painting motivation to get more stuff done.  If you are interested, my first test team painted up is a MG-08 and crew.  Link below.

Great Paul, 28mm does not compete with Martins stuff!!

Enough painted and you'll be able to play Square Bashing.

Great Paul, 28mm does not compete with Martins stuff!!

But they are nowadays getting close to the level of detail that Martin typically includes, right?

Never fear, 15mm will always be gods own chosen scale.  And God sent his only son Martin, to spread the word.

I've still got 36 to paint.  It's taking a while.  I've got some 28mm Anzac Camel Corp to paint up and then I'll be back onto my Peter Pig d-day Army.

Gaming is back to normal around here but I've been a bit slack.  I must be getting old.

What on earth are the models you are using for the camel corp?
Have you found some good information and pictures, were they part of the Gallipoli campaign in WWI?

Eureka Miniatures have had them for years in 15mm, and they just released them in 28mm.

The Imperial Camel Corps were formed in Palestine in 1916 and were part of the Anzac Mounted Division.  They had four regiments, 1st and 3rd were Australian, the 2nd were British, and the 4th regiment was 50/50 Australian New Zealand.  Support units were the 265th Camel Machine Gun battalion, an engineer company, and the Hong Kong Mountain Gun Battery.  They took part in all the major battles of the desert campaign.

WWI in the Middle East is really interesting.  Such a wide variety of units and nations.  There is a lot of information out there and the Camel Corps memorial is actually in London in the Victoria Embankment Gardens.  It's been there since 1921.
