Thank you Stewart for getting this excellent weekend up and running for next year and continuing the great PP traditions.
Dates 28th and 29th 2020.
Don't forget Friday 27th as well
Stewart
But of course.
Starting to look for figures and information for my NZ PBI army for the builder game for next years weekend.
Infantry with Vickers-Armstrong Mark VI light tanks in support.
Whats your stuff going to be Simon?

As per the briefing sheet Les 🙂
And if I'm doing the scenario there might not be that many British tanks allowed to face off against the invaders...
I plan to get more thoughts on scenarios, scenery, forces and special rules out for discussion in the next couple of weeks, for those interested. I'm delighted that you're doing an NZ force, Les - that will be one more to tick off the list.
I'll build it for PBI and will not be offended if you do not use it all in the Crete game, but it will give me a complete 1941 army.
I do have Italians as well if you need some for the scenarios.
My Kiwis are too late for Crete. They are for the Italian campaign.
I fancy doing some "RAF" personal in combats and local airfield soldiers.( Being ex RAF and my old Squadron were there too,33Sqdn) I assume they would be in 8th Army dress ? With or without helmets and caps ? Maybe looking more like Militia ??? Will have to do some research on this ?
Miles
Great to see everyone thinking about their games for next year, remember we have 18 slots to fill
(3xFriday, 9 x Saturday, 6 x Sunday)
Stewart
Simon
If you send me a file/word/pdf with the briefing document I will put it on the PP wesbite.
Maybe the PBI could be a mini-campaign over the playing sessions?
Stweart
Can you 'Pin' a post to the top of the thread...or start a new thread with the games people will be putting on?
Put me down for Towton.
Morning Sean , will do nearer the time. Very early days lots of ideas at the moment, I am looking at a
'Wild geese' type game using AK47 rules.
Stewart
That would be good Stewart. I ve got some light aircraft as well, Cessna type for an attack plane.
I am liking next year already, PBI, Ak47.

Martin,
Thank you for this kind offer, but if it's OK with everyone, I'd rather hold fire a little before "going public". I have a few folk (including your good self) that have kindly offered thoughts, advice, troops and scenery they're willing to contribute. I'm reviewing my initial thoughts and fleshing them out a little. My next step is to confirm my proposals for scenarios, sketch out some tables, work out in more detail what troops and specific scenery items we need and then get input from the interested parties.
I could then draft out a high-level "teaser" for the PP website on how PBI can readily be expanded to different table and force sizes, with Crete as a specific example (but not going into too much detail that might change over time).
I was in any case thinking of doing an article for The Mill on the thought process to date and how things are shaping up: I could then provide an update in subsequent issues (and we can all laugh at how much things will have changed by then...).
Does this sound like a plan?
Simon
Definitely a plan Simon. Of course the best laid plans........
Once you ve decided where, how you want to go, most of us will be ready. Just ask and say ?
Miles
I ve got the Friday and Monday off for WWW this year.
Once the "Winter Blues" have warn off and Beachead is under ours belts ! Must start planning for this years events ?
Miles
This is still planned for November and hopefully any restrictions still force will enable it to go ahead.
What I would like to know is who can host what games. By this I mean supply two forces, mat and scenery and know the rules to run a game.
There are 15 games over 5 sessions.
New out of the PP Stable IS Blood Barons so I suspect Martin and I will each put at least 1 game of this on, so that's 13 more games wanted.
I am also working on a 'Wild Geese' type game.
At this stage I don't need to know what you would like to play.
This is just to give all attendees an objective to complete, you have 5 months to complete it and no you can't do it in the bus/car Friday afternoon when you turn up.
Thanks guys, stay safe and hope to see you all in the near future
Stewart
Yes it may be a futile exercise for November but think positive, the games weekend will return.
Stewart I would be happy to do all or any of these.
Pirates sea game.
Patrols in the Sun.
Vietnam Firebase game.
Like most of us who enjoy the PP rule systems, figures and games yes we do hope that this event will take place this year.
Thanks Les, duly noted
Stewart
It is an excellent event Stewart.
Now a firm part of the calendar.
I am flexible on which game. I would like to put on Western if that works? BB too if that fits in.
Thanks for doing this Stewart.
martin
Thanks Martin
Can I offer up Towton please. I will bring my own white cloth. Who knows? We might even have real snow by then!
I can also offer up Naseby.
Great Sean, thanks
Stewart,
Thank you for taking this positive outlook and encouraging us to plan for the event.
I am happy to run a game of PBI.
Looking forward the weekend. I still have plenty of Calva!
Mike
Thanks Mike
Sean, would Towton be a "big game" Sunday sort of thing?
I do hear that Towton can only be played properly by one particular chap in the midlands and using only 25mm figures?
Maybe Stewart should commission a T shirt for the occasion (Stewart?)?
Slogan suggestions might include "What would Rob do?", "I made it through the rain", "Eye of the Tiger", "Here we go again".
martin ::)
;D ;D ;D
I think 'What Would Rob Do?' should be the slogan on the back of the next Peter Pig polo shirt....which colour though?
Yes I think Towton on the Sunday. Im afraid we will have to make do with Peter Pig figures. That chap from the Midlands might get upset again, but if you don't tell him, I won't.
Naseby will fit into any of the other time slots.
If you need any extra figures for Towton I have loads. Sadly they are not PP.
As to games I could do an ACW or PBI game.
John
I have a snow mat and over 1000 PP figures if we want to run two Towton games on Sunday
Stewart
Rob always liked the crimson coloured polo shirts.
I can offer up, CWB, PBI, Western and Hammerin Iron. Now I know where my rules are AK47.
Anybody want to run any of these if I am doing other things ? I can share what I have ?
Miles
The suggestion was really for the WWW. This is an event at which the attendees knew Rob.
The gamers that go to the Weymouth event all knew Rob as a friend and good man .
I think it is a bad idea to put it on a PP shirt because the wider community did not know Rob.
The wargames community in general did not know Rob and will thus not understand the reference.
There will not be a PP shirt with "Rob" on it.
This is because Rob was well known to members of the local gaming groups, but not known nationally.
Only a thought. If no traction then not a problem at all.
martin
martin :)
A Weymouth Wargames Weekend shirt then? Would be a lovely souvenir!
Now that would be an excellent idea. Yes this years one would be a bit expensive, as a set up fee would apply ? And be shared by those who attend ?
Miles
Sounds good to me - I'm in!
Simon
Morning gang,
I can look into shirts.
Last time I had a set made it was about £30 set up charge and about £10 for the shirt.
What badge/motif/words would attendees suggest?
I would suggest no reference to a year unless you want to buy a new one every year.
You can then cut the old one up and use it as a face mask.
Stewart
Thanks Stewart.
Are we not having integral face masks included? I've heard full-face snorkels are being looked into by surgeons - maybe that's a new look for wargamers that we should also investigate?
Simon
Full PPE for wargamers ?
My random thoughts (for what they are worth?)
1. Nothing too military. Then the shirt can be worn without conflict (irony?)
2. Some sort of acronyms so that it is "in crowd".
3. Small and subtle markings. Not shirt wide.
4.Embroidered or printed depending on cost.
5.Maybe just a simple picture. A row of 10(or how many usually attend) stick men with a slogan"WWW 2020 what would Rob do?" underneath. All very small . Maybe dress to the left for unusualness.
Just pitching in :-\

I think Martin is very wise. Well - at least in this case :)
Simon
I like Stewart's suggested design.
John
The pole shirt is a really good idea and tribute to Rob, don't think it it would work but how about about 17 dice mostly ones and two with only one six -pretty much sums up Robs luck in most games.
As for WWW I'm happy to put on SB (RCW), Samurai or AWI.
Chris
The dice idea is great Chris ;D
I like the generic WWW shirt idea, rather than yearly.
How about PP Pig emblem with RFCM underneath on the front.
WWW with a tribute to Rob on the back ? However that would be ?
Miles
I think the event has its own identity rather than being a Peter Pig venture?
martin
True. We don't want Martin thinking PP rules the World now, do we.
John
I have also heard that, late at night during the WWW, when The Pig is slumbering, occasionally games are played that may not be in The One True Scale or even using RFCM rules.
This may of course be vicious rumour, but I'm sure my secret is safe here.
I won't tell anyone.
I have referred to the Weekender as the Piggie Weekender in the past...mainly because for the 4 or t years I have attended I've only ever played RFCM games.
But the name isn't what's important, its the people that make it the best 3 days of gaming in the year. The loss of Rob was felt last year and he was in everyones thoughts. It's fitting that a shirt commemorates him. Yes, its only relative to the people who knew him, but that's fine. If asked who the Rob is mentioned on the shirt, it will be an opportunity for us to tell others what a nice guy he was.
Just my thoughts.
There goes my blood pressure! Infamy, Infamy! ???
martin
Nice comments Sean
Stewart
Very well put Sean. Looking forward to this year's weekend especially as our gaming count is now well down...
At least my wife can't go to Portugal this year and catch something and past to me, like she did last year. So hopefully can go to this years fully fit and well ? Can't count our chickens yet though !
My Western Forces are going well, nice thing about this period we are in. Got 2 forces well and truly started and nearly finished with markers and most of the scenery done.
Miles
Let's see what Boris says at 4pm....but it's looking highly unlikely the Weekender will be able to.go ahead. Still 2 months away, I know but with so much uncertainty, it's looking doubtful.
The ban on meetings of more than six will kill the WWW and gaming at Entoyment for the near future.
Martins games at PPHQ may still be with in the rules.
Unfortunately Sean could be right, a lot depends on the next few weeks.
Miles
All round to Martin's! Well, 5 people anyway :)
Outdoors, with masks on - perhaps under a gazebo to keep the snow off?
They are really worried about a high R rate through October, which could see Jan/Feb with hospitals filling up again!
Maybe time for the paints to come out again and hope for a good Spring.
Dave
Martin and I have a PBI game booked at Entoyment for this Friday morning so we will report back.

Great idea, Mike - get lots of games in before Monday morning when the new rules kick in!
Simon
If we declared Weymouth to be Welsh, Scottish or Irish then we could get more people in as they have more relaxed rules at present.
John
Is there a Weymouth Separatist movement now?
Maybe there should be?
Maybe we could build a game around that...?
I can see Martin 'Brave heart' Goddard shouting 'freedom'.
Dave
Interesting to see how enjoyment read the. Ew rules, no group larger than 6. - will that be per game or room?
Stewart
Interesting thought Stewart.
This year has become a swirl of happenstance.
I feel a bit Edvard Munch (scream).
Maybe we need a collectable figure to mark 2020 when it all passes?
martin :)
If Peter (Mr Entoyment) charges £3 or £4 per head instead of per table he should be able to limit gamers to 6 and still get payment for electricity/toilets etc
Mike, be gentle with Martin on Friday, he lost again tonight
Stewart
Stewart
Martin is either clearly out of practice, or counting your rifles with the life's of his warriors.
Martin,
You may need to change your dice.
Also...
An Edward Munch limited edition figure screaming might fit the bill. How we might fit it into a game though, I have no idea!
There might be a Covid-themed 15 Mill Gamette here - Edward Munch vs. the Plague Doctor zombies?
Simon
You will be safe from having to make that figure in 2020 Martin.
Hope all goes well at Entoyment on Friday!
The restrictions will allow a glorious weekend of gaming!
I will be using my Dutch KNIL vs Martin's IJA - what can go wrong ?
Mike
Martins IJA didn't fair well against my US Marines
Stewart
Thanks for softening them up for me! The KNIL don't have bazookas but their jaunty bush hats might just be scary enough.
Mike
Mike just be aware his Martins platoon officers have big swords.
Stewart
Hope you enjoy playing on his new 'Villian' mat, no coffee stains.

I suggest a Dominic Cummings miniature it can be used to mark flank entry points or when a unit appears in an unexpected place or allows a unit to pass through otherwise impassable terrain (the Barnard Castle effect). ;D
Best wishes,
Martin Buck
I know you will all be disappointed but today I have cancelled the Weymouth games weekend.
It has moved to next year, date tbc.
Stewart
Sorry to hear that Stewart given all your hard work. It is without doubt the right decision to have made.
Look forward to WWW 2021.
Dave & Ben
Bad newsStewart.
Onwards ?

Thank you for all your efforts to salvage what you could from this particular piece of Covid wreckage, Stewart, but I do think it's the right decision.
Let's all hope that 2021 will see a much healthier and happier environment in which we can all get together again.
Simon
Stewart,
Thanks again for all the work done on our behalf. A sensible decision in the light of current circumstances.
Mike.
I also am sad to hear this news but I am not surprised as with the current situation.
Could I suggest at this point maybe looking forward to 2 next year ? One on our usual November weekend next year ? So Kate knows she has a confirmed booking.
But could I propose the prospect of one in March/April/May time ??? But Not a usual "Holiday" weekends ? As Easter and the Bank Holidays are about this sort of time ? (Lambing season, Easter, 2 usual May Bank Holidays, SALUTE and Aunt Betty's Birthday anything else ? ) This would be an One off and not a regular slot. It's just an idea ?
Miles
Nice suggestion Miles, but I think spring 2021 will be too soon. I think it may be 2022 before that could happen. I also agree with Stewart's decision to cancel, sad though it is, common sense has to prevail.
John
I think John is on the right track, depending on the next couple of months 'covid' infection rates, I don't see any big games being on the horizon for quite a while.
Time to look at playing by a different venue, maybe google meet or teams!
Dave & Ben
I haven't discussed a date in November yet, I think it's to early to plan anything until we get a handle on this pandemic.
Has John said 2022 is probably more realistic once/if a vaccine is found and distributed.
Plenty of time to paint the hordes of German Fallschirmjager.
Stewart
I am inclined to agree with John, the way things are at present.
A vaccine seems to still be a long way off.
Dave, new venue, kitchen table I think!!
2023 is more realistic if you look back at the Spanish flu 100 years ago. Unless they come up with a miracle vaccine.
These new Restrictions that are starting over the next few hours/days are in for 6 months. So the Government is saying until the end of March 2021.
They can be tightened as and when needed.
Stewart it might be an idea to go and speak to Kate to at least in principle book next November 2021 on the principal that we might be getting to a "normal" ? But under the understanding that all could change ?
This is a crazy time we most definitely live in.....
Miles
Hope you are all keeping well.
I should have been traveling for the gaming weekend.
I would have been looking through the rules for the games I may have been running or joining in with for the weekend.
I would be looking forward to a few games of FiM to get a feel for the rules and enjoy the games.
Enjoy some good chat and catching up and commiserate about Martin missing out and hoping he will get well soon.
Hi Les, what could have been.
Hopefully the hotel will survive covid restrictions and will be there for us Nov 2021,
If we feel safe to Get together .
Mex Rev, Pirates(land and sea), PBI 2020, PBI same side all on the games list plus our favourites
Vietnam and ECW.
May be Mike will revisit his Battle of Britain game as well.
Stewart
I was thinking the same thing, Les. I'd planned to slope off from work early for the drive down and so would have been packing my bags, filling the tanks and checking tyre pressures.
I might have re-stocked on the apple brandy too. Tomorrow night we'd have been looking at all the new toys people had brought and some of us trying to remember the rules for Friday night's open salvoes.
Fingers crossed that everyone stays / gets well and that we'll soon have the opportunity to get together again.
Simon
Yes Simon this year for the first time Martin and I had booked rooms so we could join the late night party the rest of you have.
Stewart
Things have moved on so much that I had completely forgotten that WWW was this weekend. As it is Martin would have probably missed it anyway and it would not be the same without him. So as much as I am going to miss WWW it is more important to wish Martin well and hope that he is able to be fit along with everyone else for WWW 2021.
John

John you may say what you like, tick skin but you wouldn't have had my Rum
Stewart
As long as Les brings the Calva, I think we can live with that :)
Simon
I was thinking the same myself. It's been a funny year. WWW is our one proper weekend we can"be Kids again" for a weekend at least ! Next year.
Hopefully Martin does get better and listens to everyone and slows down(a little bit) and recovers, for battle in 2021.
Let's hope we might be able to help Stewart put on something at Bovington 2021 and WWW if Kate and her family can survive this year and the winter of 2021.
Also hopefully Mike feels a lot better too.
We need someone to pour the Calva....
