Have just started this, the latest Bernard Cornwell book.
Really good start.
All the usual winning ingredients.
i.e Good characters, some history, some terrible baddies. I await the bad churchmen and amiable Vikings.
Anyone else bought or buying it?
I will get it when it comes out in paperback.
Can you already guess the ending Simon?
I have a copy
Haven't read it yet though

Can you already guess the ending Simon?
I have a feeling that there might be violence. With a lot of blood. And some good earthy Anglo-Saxon insults. People might die. But probably not Uthred or his son.
Am I getting close?
So you have read it.
I'm still a couple of books behind.
Does anyone get shot in the eye?
One of these days, Cornwell will suprise us. He will put Uhtred in a really difficult position, and rather than getting out of it with some cunning plan, he will fall down dead. I'm sure this will happen.
What happened to Starbuck? He only got as far as Antietam before sloping off to Seattle to start a coffee business.
As an ACW fanatic, I was disappointed that Starbuck stopped at Antietam. I think with the popularity of The Last Kingdom and Cornwells advancing years I doubt we will see another one.
Maybe if he hadn't written the Shakespeare book he might have found time but I guess he has to write what he is inspired to write.
Yes, but I did like the idea that there appeared to be a role for Sharpe's French son.
