Title: Played Western recently?
Post by: martin goddard on August 14, 2019, 08:18:13 AM
Has anyone played Western recently??
I have been obsessed with BB and pirate land raids at shows. :)

Not since the last PP Western Day - been busy buying and painting more toys for other periods....

I plan to have it listed for the games weekend along with Pirates, Vietnam and of course the new horse in the stable Bloody Barons II.

As I couldn't make the last one, Yes Please. October would be good.
CWB or PBI day can be added to this list ? For game days in October and early part of November?

Ok Miles, good call.
Western

Which Saturday or Sunday in October would suit?

No, too many other games to play and not enough hours in the day or days in the week!!

In fact I expect that's the case with most of the rules, only played BB and Pirates sea fight in the last few months. Enjoyed going back to POE to remember the elegant mechanisms that I hope we end up with in BB.

Are there any weekends coming up that PP are at shows ? Colours 7 September. Arnhem 21 September. Piggy Weekender 23/24 November. I know there are a few other shows, but it's if your going to them or not ?
CWB when is Nigel free ? I know he goes away around then ? But enjoys CWB when he can make it.
That leaves us with:
14/15.28/29 September
5/6. 12/13 19/20 ( I am away) 26/27 October
2/3. 9/10. (Crises) 16/17(Warfare) November
December?
If anyone can add to that list ? That's will be 3 piggy events to try and fit in before Xmas. And in what order ?

All good ideas Miles.
The last few PP events

Western day 3/4 people
Pirate day= 3 people
SCW day= 3/4 people
D day= 4 people.

The numbers indicate that folk find it difficult to match their time off with a PP play day. That is fair enough.

I think we must do one event at a time.

So we could do BB this Saturday . Expected attendance =3.  See how it goes and then organise events on a "do one and only then organise the next?"

I am reluctant to commit too far ahead to a PBI event and an ACW event . If given plenty of notice it makes no difference to the number of attendees.  I would rather arrange it a couple of weeks ahead and get the three players together for a nice informal day of gaming .

That sound good?

I may be in a minority of one, but personally find it much easier to attend if I'm given plenty of warning. There is some gaming in this: if it's far enough ahead, my family won't have anything booked, and then when the date does come round I'm already committed :)

As such, I've managed to make all the Square Bashing and Weymouth Weekenders since I started attending, plus the Bulge and Cambrai "specials" in the last few years (and I'll be at the Arnhem day too), but my attendance at others has been rather patchier (not helped, admittedly, by the school holidays for the most recent few Entoyment events - sorry!).

Being self employed I can get booked at short notice.
At the moment I am booked for work 21st Sep until 1st Nov.
My wife has booked the games weekend in Nov off to ensure I am free if we get any bookings.
Any other game days planed I aim to attend but at times work has to take priority.

Miles, Nigel says he is "up" for a CWB event but cannot commit until a date is decided upon.

Is this the correct thread for all these events!

Most viewers will not have seen them if they have no interest in 'Western'.

You are right Les.
I was going to see if there were any interest in Western.
Do that event and then  ask about others.

You could be right there Les.
It's just organising games day in General, including the Western one.
I know this weeks BB event I cannot attend as I have a Family matter that needs sorting, hopefully after this weekend it will be more "stable" allowing me to get on with my Wargames life.
So to bring it back to line.
Those dates provided gives us dates on which we can organise games days ? From now until (early)Xmas ?
Yes Martin is right up to 6 players is a best we can expect, normally 3-5 is a better number to work with. I think a compromise that's put the dates out on a more specific thread once interest is shown on a certain subject we can organise that gaming date ?

Not commenting on the 'Western' question for a games day just all the others, particuly if the readers dont have an interest in Western, shame on them.

Now, if Martin was to add a couple more packs of Mexicans to the range, and some Federales to go with them, then I'd happily buy rather a lot and then play a lot more 'Western' AND 'SB' as well.

Hello Simon

believe it or not there will be some Mexicans. But not sure when. Would two head packs get you started??
