Title: New Pieces of Eight - now available!
Post by: Colonel Kilgore on March 22, 2019, 04:09:29 PM
For those that have not yet spotted them on the PP website, these rather nice (and full-colour!) new rules are out now. There are 3 books, all bound together, covering fights on land and sea, as well as a campaign section that combines the two.

You can buy the rules here: http://www.peterpig.co.uk/rules.html

Further details, and free downloadable playsheets, are here: http://www.peterpig.co.uk/POE%202019%20version.html

And there's a useful overview video of the rules themselves here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ba2XkT9SVcQ

As well as a bunch of videos explaining both land and sea actions here (scroll to videos #44 to #53 at the bottom): http://www.peterpig.co.uk/videos%20of%20game%20mechanisms.html

Get them while they're hot!

Thank you Simon.
We played land raids at club this Wednesday. Really enjoyable.  We got two games done in addition to a few games of the Petard rules.

After talking with my ten year old son he decided he would like to try these out.  He's been learning about the Spanish Armada at school and has developed an interest in sailing ships.

I played the original POE and enjoyed it and painted a couple of ship commissions for now sadly deceased friends.

The kid's played wargames since he was six and can more than hold his own in a dozen or so rules such as TFL Pickett's Charge, General d'Armee, also British Grenadier, Impetus, Baroque, X-Wing etc so he knows what he's doing on the table.

We bought the rules, one of each ship,  some rowing boats, deck crews, guns etc, wind marker, a mat from TinyWargames and a couple of Ospreys on Pirate Ships and Piracy History.  We're going to use the Gale Force 9 'Battlefield in a Box' rock hills as Islands with clump foliage for jungle/trees/etc.

The rules arrived today.  Really, really nice.  Simple, fun and yet challenging.  He went to bed early, clutching the rules to read in his grubby mits.  ;D [Proud Dad moment]

I'm painting the ships for him.  Previous commissions used the brown wash but I'm a fan of contrast so this time round I'm using a thin black wash instead.

Well done on another quality product Martin et al.

Having received the new rules, Ralph and I who helped with the play testing decided to play a sea game today. It was a great little game and it reminded us why we like the game so much.

A place that has not been achieved yet in BB.

We had a great game that lasted until the last turn with the merchantmen were destroyed in on hex from the table edge.

Found a possible good manufacture for 3D printed buildings for Pirates, BB, RoF and possibly Westerns ? They have a great ruined Caribbean church that looks like something along the Mexico border
https://medievalclans.com/
They will be sending me a proper link to there buildings.
I know Martin is going to be doing some buildings for this period too, but it's nice to have a another line as Martin can't make All the buildings one might require.

Stewart from Medieval Clans has joined the forum, he has some nice Big pieces. Some should compliment a lot of PP buildings on a PoE and possibly BB battlefields and maybe some others too ? Being 3D printing they can be scaled down (prices too lol)to suit our scale needs better.
