Got a game of WS tomorrow using the new cards. Will do a report, but now feeling guilty about pictures as I am afraid that computer technology completely overwhelms me (and went some considerable way to ruining the enjoyment of my career). :(
Just back from a jolly jaunt on Hadrian's Wall. Great walking holiday despite a toe infection and snow. I must be well 'ard!
Anyway, the battle report. Regarding the cards - they were great. I love the idea of the random army generation, the instant asset gains and losses and the choice of further assets (or for the French whether to take some mitrailleuses - after all, they may end up attacking)
Having established the forces and terrain, the French ended up in defence and promptly lost half their army to the reserves (the cards had not been too kind either). The Prussians settled on two strong flanks, having seen the deployment of the French. they also began with a furious bombardment, taking out half the deployed French artillery, and having acquired extra bombardment dice:

This was followed by two rapid advances on each flank whilst the French tried to bolster their defence. Fortunately some veteran (professional) zouaves and Turcos got onto the table at the end of the French first move. They couldn't prevent the Prussians taking the ruined building (objective) but they did manage to hold them there whilst taking heavy casualties themselves from an attempted assault and Prussian artillery:

On the French right flank a much more successful assault cleared the artillery hill (objective) and broke through to the French base line. After two hours it was all up for the French who withdrew while they still could, the Prussians now holding three objectives:

That's a nice-looking game and helpful write-up, Andy. I hope your toe is now mended!
Yes thanks - amazing what can be achieved with Boots own version of Savlon.
