What is your opinion of this film.
You may have seen the original or the one with scenes restored?
The restored one put back a lot of important scenes that were withdrawn by the "censors".
A reminder. It is the Kirk Douglas original one.
Not sure I've seen a restored version. I very much enjoy the film and I'm not too bothered about historical accuracy. It's a great spectacle.
I think the Space revolt would make a good period to study as a wargame using C&K.
surely and all time fave?! esp the restored version with the Larry Olivier(Crassus) scene "Do you like snails or oysters?"

The censors tried to change it to "artichokes or turnips!"
Its Hollywood, where real history never gets in the way of a money making film.
Oh dear, I looked at the photo and thought: I don't remember Charlton Heston being in Spartacus. My dad took me to see it at the Birkenhead Gaumont when it first came out in the very early 60s and I thought it was brilliant then.
