When picking up some on-offer Really Useful Boxes from Hobbycraft this morning, I saw that they also had two different snap-together 1:150 Revell Pirate Ships in store.
I think these may be the ones that Stewart has to adorn his Land Raid table?
Anyway, the "Ghost Ship" (I don't think you necessarily need to apply the green glow-in-the dark paint!) was £24 (although I see it's online for £18, here: https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/revell-ghost-ship-easy-click-kit/639281-1000 )
And the "Pirates of the Caribbean" Black Pearl was £18 in store (but seemingly not available from them online, albeit £22 from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Revell-05499-Pirates-Caribbean-Black/dp/B06XBXZRKZ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1544880953&sr=8-1&keywords=revell+pirates+of+the+caribbean )
).
I may pop in to the post-Christmas Hobbycraft sales to see if they're reduced :)
They are similar to Stewarts. But his were fitted with lighting effects, without the lights. But yes i agree i think they are based on the same ships. Being 1/150 won't make much difference to the use of them, from our point of view.
Stewart's are even better. They have a button to make noises. Wow! Like the fluorescent colour thing on that pirate ship Simon.
Oh, well if these ones don't have the facility for flashing lights or making noises, I'm not so sure I'm interested :)
I agree Simon. It's the noises or no sale. We are serious historical gamers.
Simon, I am sure that they would appeal to the family.

New game idea for next show, pirate ships v 'the TRAM'. I can fit a few canon and crew to the to deck, we can throw in a couple of wobbly square and hey presto!
Dave
Sounds great, Dave.
Does the killer tram have flashing lights too? Perhaps you could paint it with some of that Revell "ghost ship" flourescent green paint to make the match-up more historically plausible?
Maybe a "liberated" MG42 on top of the tram too?
So many great ideas, so little time. :)
Simon
I am liking the idea. Maybe sounds like aye Jim lad and tickets please!
Come on Martin, could be a huge Christmas seller.

Resurrecting this dormant thread - Lidl have gone mainstream and yesterday had the Revell Black Pearl model in one of their "when it's gone it's gone" bargain bins for a knock-down £10...
