Title: How does it look from your end?
Post by: martin goddard on June 17, 2018, 03:17:16 PM
My little pirate ships loo great (Julie painted them about 20 years ago).   Trouble is that you cannot se the names without turning the ship upside down. Gets confusing when there could be 5 to 11 ships on the table.  This makes identification tricky, unless you are psychotic (?).  Some of the other boys have put theirs on a base with a clear label at the back (Les, Duncan et al)

Thoughts??

I was going to make a bit of difference in the paint scheme, you know the big red one or the single masted red one or the three masted red one!!

So make some mark upon the ship. Good idea Les. Might extend to distinct flags etc..

Maybe a distinct image on the sail. E.g. Dragon, Snake, Sword, St George's Cross, The Teapot and so on.

At this stage of play testing I am going to place a name plate under the stern and different coloured sabots for quality

Duncan I like the idea of the Teapot, frying pan, fork, etc. i'll have to see how many I need to think up.

If their are a couple in the same force I could do like the ECW flags with one element and lesser officers with two or three of the same image.
