Title: To base or not to base
Post by: Leslie BT on February 03, 2018, 07:39:07 PM
Should the pirate ships be based or not based?

Should the bse sizes vary with the size of the ships or should they all be on the same size of base.

Anyone have any pictures?

Persoannly I'd say no to basing. Just my personal preference.

Measuring - for both movement and firing - needs to be clear.

So, if we're not going for squares (although it seems that several prefer hexes...), bases could be handy for measurements.

However, if the models fit in some kind of square or hex "zone", basing probably becomes irrelevant from the game perspective.

That said, I'd still think about basing mine for ease of storage / movement. But I'd first see whether sticking steel sheet on the base of the model is enough to hold them in place on a magnetic sheet. I think that making realistic-looking sea bases is somewhat harder than for land, so aesthetically would prefer to omit bases in this case.
