White Star
« on: October 21, 2017, 10:25:02 AM »
In response to Sean's request, I'm posting up pictures of my US forces. I had these singly-based for another system, and simply stuck them onto square bases for games-testing of the new PP MOCB rules.

My excuse [and I do feel guilty about not having made more progress...] for not painting up more in the 2-figures-per-base principle according to the rules is that I'm awaiting Martin's Generation 3 figures: particularly squad leaders and ideally some M60 assistant gunners to accompany the Pigs.

First up, US casualties:

What I used for squad leaders - a couple of helicopter crew have been drafted in to lead the grunts:

Finally, sniper and forward air observer teams:

The air observer himself is one of the now-replaced (but still very nice) "AK47" Professionals with an M16, while his radio operator is from the current MOCB Special Forces pack #3 (although this casting is not pictured on the PP website!).

My painting technique on these was somewhat experimental. I really liked what "Matakishi" had done here:

particularly the bit about "painting in a hurry"! So I base-coated in Vallejo Russian Green, covered in a brown ink and then dry-brushed green on top (and then a lighter brush of green+brown). A bit of a faff in 15mm, but it did add a bit of depth for relatively little effort.
