I have the audio book of the series. Ken Burns and Geoffrey Ward are excellent at their trade. I have watched 'The Civil War' countless times.

I wonder when we get to watch it over here.

Very good question Sean

About a year??
Otherwise people will get "itchy" and watch it on some illegal download.

Well done Simon good spot, like Martin I thought it would be a year or so before we could see it here.

He certainly does! My newspaper happened to fall open at that particular page during my commute home, or else I'd have missed it...

It was mentioned on Twitter but the poster then went on to say that the Civil War series was plodding and he hoped this would be better.

Some people have no taste!

This is great news. Missed it but will try to catch up. Thank you for the information.

As for "plodding"; yes the ACW needs more helicopter gunships "whoosh" and awesome explosions "ker-pow". Also some parachute drops "ker plosh". ACW is so "max". "It was the war between the north and south. So the south had Brazil, Columbia etc. The North had Alaska and Las Vegas!  Oh man. Radical".

I always thought the ACW needed more AK47 and naked ladies. That might make it more pacy. Or should that be racy.

You are correct. i will get the film green lighted!
We need to use Samuel Jackson as RE Lee  and Tom Cruise as Lincoln in order to get the paying film goers in. Maybe we could concentrate on the affair between Mrs Lincoln and Stonewall Jackson to give the film some love interest.  A siege using castle walls might do well for the Petersburg defences?

Presumably there will be vampires, too, for Mr Lincoln to hunt?

I have to say I'm really enjoying this series. According to the hard-core historians on TMP it's history-lite twaddle.

I don't know why I bother visiting there sometimes.
