New tanks by Minairons
« on: April 25, 2017, 10:24:57 AM »
I see that Minairons have recently released a box of 2 no. 1:100 Sadurni tanks.

I must confess I'd not heard of these (Wikipedia suggests that only 6 were ever built), but they look both easy to build and a nice alternative to the more common ones. And something for Martin and Les to add into the current rules draft...

Yes mg armed, I guess they would be classed as light tanks within the current rewrite of the rules

I too would categorise them as light tanks.  One good (?) thing about the new BI is that vehicles are grouped so that you could use any model subject to being allowed that category. Thus a light tank does not alter because of the model you are using.
I will not be introducing a a category in BI  for "fixed gun poorly engined" as the armour part of the game is not the main focus.   So i might use an FT17 as a light tank , but the sadurni/Pzi would look great upon the table, so use that. i would have no problem if a player wanted to field the sadurni as a medium tank.   There is a danger of players looking for a special "cheat" so that they underpay for items if the armour rules in BI were too specific. I am avoiding the "it costs the price of this category but has an enhancement available to amore expensive category.  So i will buy it and ensure victory by my clever use of the points system".
We may end up with two players, each with a pair of sadurnis with one pair being light tank s and the other pair being medium armoured cars.  OK.
