Quite - I'm now glad I have such an extensive lead mountain, and a few spare paint pots...

Likewise - message belatedly just popped up for me.

Good luck to all at PP HQ, and stay well. Maybe best to get your orders in quick, chaps, and beat the rush?

I might reconsider the use of the term Chinese Flu... people are easily offended these days, and you don't need any reason to lose customers  :)

It doesn't really matter if you care or not. Use of jingoistic phrases will put certain people off... unless you are of course wanting to appeal only to Gammons. If you are in retail I'm not sure why you would want to put any potential customer off

Latest news on the Chinese Flu from Australia.  All states in lockdown.  Towns going into lockdown.  Cafes, pubs, etc closed.  Beaches closed.  Old people homes allowed no visitors.   No parties allowed inside private homes.  No international travel.  Massive lines outside unemployment offices not seen since the Great Depression.  House prices have dropped 20%.  Weddings max 5 people.  Funerals max 10 people in attendance including undertaker staff.  Police given power to forcefully enforce quarantine orders.  $20,000.00 fines for breaches.  PPE is running out.  Only essential workers are allowed to work.

Stay safe everyone.

The flu comes from China, hence the moniker. I am not too concerned about any upset caused to the Chinese fascist machine. :)

Not its not -

Quote
WHO director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was clear in his comments on Tuesday about the reason his organisation had acted to name the disease.

"We now have a name for the disease," he said.

"Under agreed guidelines between WHO, the World Organisation for Animal Health and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, we had to find a name that did not refer to a geographical location, an animal, an individual or group of people, and which is also pronounceable and related to the disease.

"Having a name matters to prevent the use of other names that can be inaccurate or stigmatising."

Spanish Flu - a worldwide epidemic that is believed to have killed at least 40-50 million people between 1918 and 1920 - was named with racist undertones by a jingoistic press at the end of the First World War.

It's not just you, Simon. Some of us have Chinese friends, family, colleagues. I would humbly submit that the association of this virus with any particular segment of the world's population is unlikely to be helpful.

Another one that agrees with the other Simon, despite being born long before 1980 - itís unhelpful and divisive to refer to it in such terms rather than its proper name.
