PBI Played today at Entoyment
« on: March 19, 2020, 05:43:52 PM »
Played PBI at Toyment today (19th March).
6 players in 2 games
Game 1 was 1941 Russians versus 1940 German. Major win to the Germans. The Russians just fell apart due to lack of morals. I had launched too many pointless frontal assaults. I thought this an accurate historical tactic.

Game 2 was 1940 British and Italians in the desert.
Italians gained a small win due to taking 2 objectives, but losing a bunch of chaps on the way in.
The British veteran cruiser tanks scored  good hits, but their own cruiser armour was very poor (5).

Probably last game for a while.
Games seemed to tick along fine.
These were not ENEMY PBI, but PBI 2020.

Enemy PBI, PBI 2020? Am I missing something? Are there two new editions of PBI on the way?

I suspect John as Enemy PBI develops. PBI will have some additional rules eventually added. It is bound to happen, ideas that go into one will cross over. The battle clock is one. There are simple rules in the SCW  that can crossover as well.
PBI as a game package is there,it is also a cut above a lot of other games; but most of us feel that a few “modern day” tweaks are probably needed to extend the games life, and play ability.

Hello chaps
Yes my directions are multiple and random :)  whoops.

1. ENEMY PBI is the successor to Foe PBI and SSPBI. It will e a smaller page count than a full rule set. Say 50 pages??  It can be used alongside SCW and PBI rulebooks. It will be aimed mainly at Solo and pairs of players. Not really for 3 players upwards.
2. PBI 2020. This is  a slower burning project. Working on ENEMY PBI has brought up the "opportunity" to tinker with the main PBI rules.  Not sure of the projected date of publication but it has already included lots of new ideas. Unlike other new rulesets from PP it will not be a total re-write, but rather an update with a bunch of ch-ch-changes.

There, clear as mud! ;)

That is a welcome clarification Martin - you may move in mysterious ways, but I for one like the direction this is all taking!

I wasn't aware that Enemy PBI was planned to work for SCW too - that is great news and could reinvigorate interest in what is after all both an interesting period and a relatively new set of rules.

Sounds very much like a Plan Martin.
With a lot of people now being home because of work and self isolating and not being able to travel etc.
Looks like a lot of this can be looked at ?
As I have said before. PBI is very much a complete game.
But the world doesn’t stop.
With the SCW and Team PBI and life generally things move on and modern ideas do crop up.
So maybe this is a good time to take PBI beyond 2020, without ruining the game.
All this Chaos might produce a good supplement to the rules.

Peter told me, at the moment the gaming area has been closed at Entoyment until further instructions and notice. So your PBI game at Entoyment was nearly the last for a while.

Good points Miles about PBI.
Also sad to hear about the restrictions on Entoyment . But Peter has  done the right thing in my opinion. :(
