Squarebashing 2020
« on: November 24, 2019, 03:28:00 PM »

Squarebashing 2020 is to be held on Saturday 13th June 2020, at Battlefieldhobbies in Daventry.

It will be a team event (entries permitting). The armies are divided into 2 Pools. In each team - one player plays allies, the other central powers. Game pairings will ‘historical’ were possible, and avoid 'same club’ where possible

There will be 2 games, Team against Team (Allies vs Central Powers). For each game the sum of each team score will be added to the team total. The army points are 620pts (standard game)

To encourage using under valued armies the sum total of army rating will be deducted from final score.

The terrain will be pre set , other than that,  its RAW. You have the option to use the ‘Rays Stick’ method for countdown to battle. There will be no trench, canal or fort games. All painted figures please, we want it to look nice!

Any questions can be raised to me at Simon@rocketsix.co.uk or via the RFCM forum

As per normal it really helps out if you buy tickets early so we can get an idea of numbers

Simon
Is there any issue, if I want to play the normal game and my opponent wants to use the stick method?

It's going to be interesting to see what armies people come up with for 1915. Although some important battles and offensives took place, I do think 1915 is not given the same attention  as the other war years.

But we do have

1. Various actions in East Africa
2. Gallipoli
3. 2nd Ypres
4. Loos and the first concerted use of gas
5. Plenty of activity on the Eastern Front

and of course, who could forget.....

6. San Marino declaring war on Austria-Hungary.

So plenty to go at.

Would it be acceptable to field a British force in steel helmets?

Sept/Oct 1915 was the start of British helmet use. You'd be late... but thats OK!

I'm always late to the party.

I may bring men on horses with pointy sticks though.

Ben and I have booked our tickets. New Year's Project Anzac's and Turks.

Who knows might even do some Light horse for another project that I have wanted to do for many years!
