When you base  a vehicle, whether cart or tank; do you drag wheel ruts or track gouges across the base?
If so, how do you paint them compared to the major base colour and texture.

Yes and maybe with a little gloss in the ruts if it is wet.

Just let the base Wash and highlighting dry brush do itís work ? Unless you are showing itís in a quagmire surely ?

What do you use to form those, Westie - an old Biro, or similar?

And presumably you use different patterns, in accordance with the speed and gait of the model horse :) ?

Hoof marks is  a nice idea. I would never have thought of that. Any picture available?

Hoof marks, a small diameter tube with a slot cut into it ? Would do the job ?

That's what I was thinking - and then a number of different templates for walking, trotting, cantering and galloping :)
