Well here we are at 47.
Game tonight notes.

Scenery movement. very little.  On 3 occasions, wards failed to leave scenery. Most unusual.
Only 1 general died, even though there were 8 fights.
Guns killed very few men.
No cavalry for either side.
Small win for defender. Due to defender advancing across the table into the attacker's half.  9 zone points each (remembering that 2 defender zones are worth 2 points each).
Generals spent most of their time attached to units. This improved those units to household etc.
Being on a hill made a big difference to morale and fighting.  Grab those hills!

The game looked good in terms of troop density and scenery. Satisfying.... :)

All sounds good, Martin!

With the revised points system, some of the example armies on pages 9 and 10 of BB47 no longer appear to quite add up. I'm marking up a hard copy with (mostly minor, so far) comments, and will bring along whatever I have done to Daventry on Saturday.

A very worthy endeavour and a nice surprise, thanks Martin!

A game of BB47 today.
We took the smallest army with cavalry and the largest army but with two guns and no cavalry.
So the defender had 3 household foot, 5 retinue foot, 2 levy foot, 2 household cavalry.
The attacker had 1 household foot, 6 retinue foot, 10 levy, 2 light guns.
Game took 2 hours and lasted for 6 turns.  Result defender 15 points, attacker 51 points.
The defender lost 12 half bases and 2 units off table. The piggy chase put the defender at level 1.
Scenery.
Attacker. empty
Wood, empty, empty, gentle hill.
Empty, empty, wood, empty.
Empty, empty, empty, marsh.
Empty, gently hill, buildings, rough hill.
Defender edge.
No scenery movement.
We had a good game but again the small army ran out of bases.
We had some questions.
Cavalry charge a zone that contains only guns.  Does the charge stop n the gun zone?
Conclusions.
Generals worked well, none died, attached most of the game by the attacker, made 3 units of retinue into household, did not use 'trying hard' we just forgot as its not on the play sheet.
We had a general advance by the attacker, the cavalry never charged.
The defender never managed to get off the mark. The game lasted 6 turns, countdown down to 15.  So the defender  was beaten back and some units pushed off table. Again the defender just ran out of bases.
At present for our play testing we have chosen the most bases and the fewest bases. To see how the game goes.

Simon is taking some BB notes to give to Martin on the SB Day, so Martin replied about a special SB Day figure. Rather hoping us povos  who canít make it there will have access to it at a later date.

Thanks for playing Les

48 is on the cusp of coming along, but the changes are very small.  They would not have affected your game (?).

I will get a 48 out later tonight. I am not at the computer at the moment :)

The defender needs to make his second row the defence line. This will allow him to have rear support. In addition it will prevent the attacker claiming +2 for being in defender's table half.
If the defender had 3 household foot the generals should be able to create 3 more by joining retinue units. This could give 2 wards with 2 household units in each. Tough opposition in a fight!

Still looking at fight D6.
