Battle 24th May
« on: May 24, 2019, 10:51:25 PM »
Had a game of SCW tonight.
Carlists defending and regular army attacking.

carlists had 4 platoons and a pair of medium armoured cars.
Regular army had  a pair of AT guns, pair of light armoured cars, pair of medium tanks and 3 platoons ( with MMG).
The carlists started the game with two 10 base platoons scattered along a front the width of the table.
The regular army started with two platoons, guns and tanks on table.
The regular army ignored the bridge, far left , objective and went at the two central objectives.
Because the platoon command stayed to the rear there were problems in getting the regulars to assault the objectives.

The regulars brought withering fire to bear on the Carlists defending the objectives.
The Carlist lack of any AT stuff allowed the regulars to position their light armoured cars in a position to machine gun the carlist infantry.
Carlist reinforcements were forced back by the regulars using the delay asset.
A Carlist platoon then ran off.
The regulars then over ran both central objectives.
The game was won by the regulars. Their plan to bring force to bear on the central two objectives was most successful. The Carlist were too slow in getting their reinforcements on the table.

A most enjoyable game.
The motivation system was good.

Yes there are some ideas that might  "port" across Les. I think most mechanism in BB are there to stay. The work now will be on the numbers within those mechanisms. The difference between 3,4,5,6 and 4,5,6 in a game can be quite major I feel.
Still have not found any space for "faction", "warband", "binary", "universe" or "going forward".  But  these might feature prominently in  the BB online advertising for youngsters.

Along the lines of

Kerpow, gore, boom!  Yes BB universe(TM) is here. So you can create the awesome bloodbaths(TM) of the wars of the roses(TM) universe with just 12 figures a side. So with 14 figures a side you can re-create the binary struggle  of Townnntoon. Awesome, kernash. So pitch your factions against each other in a fight to the death using guns, chainsaws and trebuchets. So if you have the last figure standing then you win. Huzzah. So BB can be used for all conflicts from AD1 up until AD1939. So it stops at 1939 because armour changes.
So the starter set contains a  set of cards, card measuring sticks with inch markings, special BB dice with numbers 1,2,3.5 ,4,5,6. Add to all this, a paper crown for each player.  So going forward BB   will become BBB (Bloody Barons Bmagic) Double awesome(TM).
8) 8) 8) 8)

I think you're onto a winner here, Martin.

Of course, all playtesting should cease herewith. You can then issue extensive amendments a month after launch, followed by a new version of the rules in a year or two's time. The new rules will have the same title, but require the purchase of a completely new range of Peter Pig Awesomeness Figures ("PPAF" TM) to play.

What's not to like?

I think the yearly cycle of re-print is a good call Simon. :)
