Weymouth games weekend
« on: January 27, 2019, 10:28:00 AM »
With the new larger enjoyment shop and games area and all the games days being planed at the venue do players still want a games weekend in Weymouth or two days at entoyment?
Or is there enough games days with one a month planed?

Stewart,

Is the secondary question from the rest of us: would you still happy be happy to organise a Weymouth Weekender?

If you are, and I'm not sure my vote counts for much as I've not yet managed (and probably won't this year) to get down for more than one day of these weekends, I see some of the advantages of the Weekender as:
  • the extended open / playing hours (relative to being in a shop)
  • the ability to keep things out over 3 days knowing that no-one will mess with them
  • a big event, in the diary months in advance, for which people regularly make the effort
  • a wide range of games on offer
  • a relatively cheap hotel for those that have to travel long distances and wish to stay over

Is it greedy to want to encourage both the increased number of events at Entoyment (which is also handy for topping up on painting supplies, as is the Daventry venue) for themed (specific rulesets and timeframes) events while maintaining the institution of the Wemouth Wargames Weekend?

I go along with Simon. If your happy to arrange a WWW and can get enough support to make it pay, then please go ahead. Yes there can can a lot more events arranged at Entoyment. Yes we can arrange 2 day events, and this year there will be 2 day events at Entoyment. (Dday and Arnhem but both will be organised with Peter and others after Beachhead) It wouldnt be a bad idea to see where the local Band B or cheap hotels are to the venue ?

Stewart, the WWW is phenomenal. If you are happy to organise it (good point Simon) then they will come.  If the George is deleted then maybe another hotel will oblige?  If it costs more , then fine by me. Simon has made all the salient point ,so just a ditto from myself!

Stewart and All,
The WWW is a firm favourite in our diaries now so YES to having one again this year, please.
The George is good for cost and flexibility but if not available Entoyment plus the PremierInn at Holes Bay, Poole for accommodation would be a good alternative  (a 5 minute drive from the venue) and good range of nearby food outlets.

I feel it will be unanimous in keeping the WWW as it is as far as possible. Simply the best weekend of gaming I know of.

There is no reason why more frequent RFCM single dayers isn't viable alongside so long as we have that quorum of 4 players at each.

Should the George become unavailable then I'd go with Mikes suggestion of local hotel and gaming at the shop.

Hello Stewart
PP wise I think the B Barons should be out by then, or at least nearing completion.
There might also be a draft of "same side PBI".
Also put me down for aWestern game(or two).

This is for info. I will put it through properly to you too.

Put me down for a room, as i ve booked the time off around the weekend already.
Do people want us to bring the Gold Beach game with us for the Sunday ? As it is a multi player game on a BIG table.

Today I am using the little symbols to see if that givres extra clarity or is a sign of communication lack of clarity? :o

Gold beach Sunday sounds good.  :)
One point of caution though.  :-\
Is this game fought as several games in parallel; or one big game? ???

More than 4 players in a unified game might mean long periods of inaction.
2 players = 50% of the action each.
4 players = 25% of the action
6 players = 16% of the action
8 players= 13% of the action.

I have not played the  game.I have no idea of how it it "sectioned", shared etc. :-[

Having said all this without a clue of what is going on  I do apologise in advance. :)

There 8) :'( ;D :D

Well done, Martin  ;)

I think the emoticons add a lots of useful flavour  ;D

Have you thought of writing a whole set of rules without words?  :P

Er - what was your point again?  8)

Thank you Stewart for keeping this event going with the new owners.

Gold Beach, or Towton. Can the germans stop the landings, will they be allowed to? Can the House of Lancaster win, will they be allowed to?

To join in with either game what troops do we need to bring and do we need some troops for each side?

Will Martins statistics be the same for both games?

With the previous large SB or ECW if I remember correctly we all brought figure etc for the games.
