The ever excellent Storm of Steele blog has a great battle report using Square Bashing for this timely action at the clise of the war. Might have a go myself at the weekend.

That really is good. A candidate for the new magazine?

Good story too. HMGs are a nightmare to attack, but now and then......

Thanks Martin, yep, three HMGs were a dangerous proposition from an attacking POV!

Excellent write-up and photos.

I like the "soft" squares on the tabletop - not seen that before and it works well. I'm wondering if an even more subtle / muted effect would also be possible. It might be a good approach for those who don't like the vivid lines of "grids" and help them get into this way of playing?

Thanks Kilgore, I am glad you liked the AAR.

This blog post shows you exactly how i made the boards: http://www.stormofsteelwargaming.com/2017/02/square-bashing-board.html
Except that recently, I filled in the lines with a different colour flock. To reduce the impact of the squares (I like the look, personally), you could just do a small square of different coloured flock at the junctions of the vertical and horizontal lines. This would be a square about 2cm x 2cm and not that noticeable, but enough to delineate the individual squares?

Many thanks for this, Abwehrschlacht: neat but very effective.

Your approach also means that any slight imprecisions in the lines or corner dot positions is much less noticeable than a thin line / precise dot. Very good!
