Piggy Days and Competitions / A Bridge Too Far
« on: February 10, 2018, 09:27:18 AM »
Let's get the ball rolling. This is for next year. Big Game somewhere in Dorset to celebrate 75th Anniversary of 1944.  Sean suggested Arnehem ? There seems to be a good vibe about doing this. We all know the history and there 50-50 parts that are up for a fight that we can wargame and maybe rework the Historic Truth ! As the Germans so nearly done this year ? So we can represent 3-4 Aspects of the drive up to Arnehem ?
So everyone gets a chance to get vehicles, troops and scenery done for early next year, rather than rushing in the last 6 weeks beforehand !!! We need British Paratroopers, American Paratroopers some German Paratroopers ? British Armour, Guards and 11th Armoured divisions? And Germans with some weird and wonderfully tanks and vehicles ! ( char B flamethrower and other converted French tanks for secruity ?) As well as more normal tanks and infantry.
Do we want to go with this ?
Who wants to be involved ?
Who wants to take lead in any aspect of the preparations ? As this needs to be shared, otherwise it's all to consuming very quickly and puts people off doing it again !
Then eventually we can get forces needed and organised and scenery done at a more leisurely pace !
Then if we do agree with what we want to do which bits of the campaign do we want in ?

Piggy Days and Competitions / PBI day 2018
« on: December 27, 2017, 06:39:38 PM »
Evening all need to know when to set the games day ? June and July  are filled up by the looks of it and Salute is in April and Beachhead in February.
May and September would be good months ???
As it's 75th anniversary of 1943 in 2018. 1943 Army's are order of the Day. So no King Tigers or Sherman Fireflies !!! For example.

Piggy Days and Competitions / PBI 2018 and beyond ?
« on: October 22, 2017, 09:25:12 AM »
Hello All. I am looking at getting feedback for possible dates next for PBI games day ?
Also thinking about possible themes for the day day ?
I was thinking as next year and the next 2 years, it is 75 th anniversary of of 1943 next year, also 2019 and 2020 will the 75th anniversary of 1944 and 1945 respectively. So I was thinking of basing forces on the possible armies that would be expected to be found in each year of the WW2.
So an example I couldn't put a Sherman Firefly in my army as it didn't appear until mid 1944. Or if I had a German Army a King Tiger etc etc. I think you get the idea ??? But saying that for the 1945 (2020) might allow the use of Paper Tanks ? As those that know me I have Centurion tanks, E 100, E75 etc. That's only a thought for now ?
So please Feedback and suggestions on themes and Dates. These will be played at either Entoyment in Poole or somewhere in Weymouth and or Christchurch areas as this is where a lot of us live. So I am trying to give fair warning to those that live in other areas warning, and No Excuses !!!

Piggy Days and Competitions / CWB gaming day
« on: June 03, 2017, 07:56:49 PM »
I know this isn't the most popular of gaming systems. But a few of us do enjoy playing the game.
It has been suggested that "could I arrange another gaming day" ??? Nigel ?
So I was thinking towards the end of the year possibly at Entoyment? 2 games and Lunch ?
Any suggestions on dates ?

General discussion / Future of PBI competitions and gaming days
« on: February 25, 2017, 01:38:20 PM »
Hello All.
I had a discussion with Stewart earlier this week about the PBI competition. As I set a date for June this year. I ve had a reasonable response from the "usual local participation" but nothing from Further afield mainly SELWG.
So I need to know between now and Salute if people want to play in the competition and when would be a good time to have it ? I know that there are other gaming competitions some people want to go to, so tell me a good time that doesn't clash ? I am happy to set these days to a date that most people will participate? Without YOU !!!! It cannot take place !!!!!!!
I now have access to a good venue, being Entoyment shop in Parkstone. As Peter there does like to promote local wargaming, and we don't have that we have to get out by....
Now wether we go for more themed gaming days ? But this can limit certain people, as some of us only have 1 or 2 armies to play with.
Then how many games we play in a day 2 or 3 ? Have a Brunch or a Lunch in between ?  This is easier a bit now as we are not on quite a tight day schedule at the shop
So please give me some feed back ? I am happy to arrange game days if people want it to happen? But I need feedback and people to play. To make these days successful you need 10-12 participants on average and from different areas if possible otherwise we can play these at normal club days.
So please I need to know where we stand by the end of April. Do you want these "Competition" days ? Dates ? And maybe themes ? How many games ?

I want to book up next years competition as soon as I can, as it is held at Entoyment Wargames shop. Other things happen on a Saturday so I am proposing Saturday 3rd or 10 th June. A lot of the usual "local" boys have soon an interest and are happy with either date. I am awaiting to hear from SELWG at the moment?
So I need your feedback ASAP please
