Martin,

Thank you for kicking this off.

1. I plan to attend (it's in the diary, so pending any last-minute work or domestic issues I should be there)
2: I think I'm doing a PBI game with Mike, Colin and Miles (if that's still on and they'll still have me). I will also be visiting the Peter Pig stand (if only to admire those wonderful 1:100 Pirate Ships :D)
3. I've never been: I think I'm going to enjoy it
4. I will drive
5. I'll get there for when it opens. When does it start?

Simon

Hi All

Ben and I will be going. We are putting on our Arnhem game 'Frosts Perimeter', which will be 6x6 in 15mm.

Always enjoy this show, and from what I hear will be bigger and better than normal this year. We are planning to drive get there to set up pre opening?

Since you are in a game you can be there from 8.15am.  Do bring food. They have a cafeteria, but it sells out of sandwiches very quickly.
I shall be "allowing" photographs of the 1/100th ships alongside Dave's tram. Show stoppers I think :)

Les
You can always change your mind and fly into Bournemouth? Although I have no idea if you have a local airport? If you had a float plane you could.......... :)

Ben
Look forward to seeing that tram. I have told others of it too.

Martin

How about we put on a special game, 1/100 ships v 1/87 tram - death match.

I would like to attend but it does depend on work and family commitments.

Should know in the next week.

I'll be possibly shopping for a bargain for something I didn't know I needed until I saw it and then get home and put it in a cupboard for a couple of years to mature.

Travel and timings will depend on external factors.

You can set your game up on the Friday, before teatime.
Peter is Hiring the Whole of the BiC this year.
Our normal war gaming show is on the Saturday. There will be food upstairs as the Hotdogs stands and other things are open this year.
There will be some big war gaming competitions all weekend. So this over 2 days.
RPG  and Boardgaming is also included.
By the looks of it. Gaming will be allowed in the front Bar area for the evening as well. Also I ve heard that there now will be some war gaming on the Sunday, for those that live local etc.
Peter has spent some £17000 on hiring the BiC for the weekend.
So we shall see if this works out ?
If I find any times out about getting in etc, I will put it on here.

I hope to be there on the Saturday, probably traveling by bus as it is free for me. Main reason for going will be to see you guys and collect my latest order from Martin. Not sure what it will be yet but probably some WW2 Japanese, Greeks and Yugoslav partisans.

I really like this show, not just because it's local for me but the range of games to see, the excellent choice of hobby products from the traders and the opportunity to put on our own RFCM game. Last year it was Gold Beach, this year we are back in the winter forest with our Ardennes game. Miles and Simon will be surprising Colin and I by launching a major attack through heavily wooded and hilly terrain. Who'd have thought it!

I always thought those chaps were sneaky!

I should know tomorrow whether I can do this. It sounds wonderful and I'd really like to see Dave and Ben's Arnhem game.

Is there a bring and buy do you know?

Mike, you have ruined the surprise. The Germans are going to be sad unless you pretend (Oh gosh!) it is still a surprise.

Maybe the Germans won't show up. That would be a surprise.

No bring and buy, as Peter has them at the shop 2/3 times a year. Also itís competition for the traders.
The competition games like Star Wars, Warhammer etc, I think they are being charged something like £30/40 per head, and he is expecting 200 plus of them ?
Pint of beer (old speckled hen) £4.50 a bottle,(for a bottle I can buy in Sainsbury £1.80) it was a few months back when I went to the boxing.
I hope they can recoup the money back ? I would have thought that they should get most of it ?

We are all supporting Peter with his quest to make wargaming happen in Dorset. He has created a top show. :)

I'll miss this most likely now as Ava is a Flag Waver at the Stoke City match that day with her football team. Not set in stone yet, but I'm not hopeful.

That's a pity from wargames perspective, Sean, but a great opportunity for Ava that won't be readily forgotten.

It will be televised somewhere but on a pay to view channel. I will obviously take pictures and post them up just so that I don't get detetnion for missing class!

Stewart will be there with the pirate land raid. I recommend it. Stewart is pretty good at it, but might go easy?

Yes , can you defend your town against the Pirates or will you give up without a fight?
May be you want to be a Pirate and raid and plunder but are you ruthless enough too over come the towns militia?
Come and have ago and try your luck.

Me and Mike were setting up at BiC yesterday, the venue looks good. Both halls full of tables.
We are not too far away from PP stand, for once.
Should be a good day/weekend.

Hopefully Simon you learned a lot this weekend about PBI ? As well the process up to the game ?
Good game though, it looked the part as well.
The show is growing ever year. Looking good and getting bigger.

Back from the show thanks to Martin driving skill navigating around Bournemouth.
Lots of traders and nice games. Best of the bunch I think was David's Arnhem bridge game, Mikeís  gang with their Ardennes game and the old picks with their tank heavy Normandy game.
There was lots of Re enactors , Dorset reg WW2, Star Wars characters and Marvel characters but sorry to Poison ivy I thought she was a mermaid!
Novel trader at the show was two young ladies selling rather nice jewellery they have asked to attend Bovington show in July, so another reason to visit.

Well, it was worth it in the end. Missing the show to watch my 9 year old daughter waving the flags with her team mates as the Stoke City team team onto the pitch. A 3 - 1 win over Charlton. She must be a good omen.

Hope you lucky lot enjoyed the show and spent a bit of money on the trade stands to make it worthwhile for them turning up.

I will echo Stewart's and others' feedback about the show. A really landmark occasion for the hobby with much to appeal the non gamers, so well done to Pete and his crew.
Martin and Stewart's Pirate participation game was successfully encouraging people to play and Ian's small scale Arnhem Bridge game did the same. We had a new player James, join us for the afternoon session of the Ardennes game. I will prepare the US battle report shortly for the game.

Ava is standing between the two number 8's.

For me, it was a great show. Well lit and spacious. People seemed to be having fun.

I think the standard of demo games was at least as good as Colours, and we had a number of informed folk come over to talk. Interestingly, several assumed we were playing Rapid Fire.

Things that the venue could do better next time include:
 - turning up early to put the kettle on: the queues first thing for tea and coffee were ridiculous
 - doing a day rate for the parking - £18 (the 24-hour rate applies after 6 hours) was bordering on the extortionate

I'll bring my own lunch next time too - those Bournemouth folk like to fleece the visitors...

But those are minor grumbles. We had a great game, and had a chance to speak to several others on this Forum. Good to see 15mm alive and well!

We must get a copy of the rules to put out on our games table, and label the game title with the Rules name as well.
