Bloody Barons / Re: Scots 1513 units

You can have 9 bases in a unit, would the officer be one of the 9 bases or would he be the 10th base?
With in the rules you would only want to use the bases with a maximum of 2 bases deep.

Great, I had missed these. I knew you had done some sharks, but forgotten they had swimmers with them.

A must have pack with my next order.

As a follow up to a previous thread, I've come up with an 800 point army list for the Scots army at Flodden in 1513.
My question is does a 3 x 3 base formation of Pikes work in the rules? (I've been busy with the SCW so haven't really got to grips with the BB rules yet). I'm thinking this is the best formation to represent the depth of the Pike Blocks which is close to what seems to be the Standard 8 size.
The rest of the army list is made up of Highlanders (Irish in the rules) and Heavy Guns.

Which swimmers is Martin going to model, paras crossing the canal for Operation Market Garden? British/Polish paras in Arnhem?
Some pirate types for Pieces Of Eight new campaign system? Should they be for the 15mm figure game or the ships game?

Great information, especially Leslie BT, thanks for that!

So, the big question, how to transfer this into a Bloidy Barions Army? As the rules as based by base, if you see what I mean, it alliwd mixed units very well, at it basic level ‘standard’ bill and bow foot units. So an eight stand, 24 figure, Scottish unit could be fourcrear stands of Spearmen, (this is for a Berwick era army, my understanding is that full length pike weren’t really around til Floddon?) two stands of bow? And two stands of ‘nobles?’ Maybe Armoured/harnessed chaos? Then a unit or two of just bow? And the same of just sword and buckler? Some light guns, and light cavalry? How about full harness heavy horse? I’m doubting this, but, as for the standard foot, a stand or two in with the light horse?
Sorry for my ramblings, but I need the wealth of expertise on here, translated to the tabletop!

Many thanks for your help so far, and thanks in advance for any ‘wargame’ aspect he’ll you all can give.
PBI / Re: random set up

We tried out random terrain placement last night - worked very well , if you fancy it this is how we did it,
we diced for random terrain each
1 = hill (dice again 123 open 456 rough)
2 = swamp
3 = depression
4 = field (we also have open which means nothing can be put in the 2 squares - including teriary)
5 = rocky outcrop or woods (dice 123 = woods 456 rocky outcrop)
6 = buildings

dice for random position of objectives

then dice for each piece as its laid down.
you select a piece , diced 2d8 , measured from your side of the board and you select which side to measure from, you lay the terrain piece in any direction from that square. if it overlaps an existing piece you can place it in any adjacent square to the square picked
Buildings dice 1 d8 for how far up or along the building is on the road.

It gives a nice randomness to the terrain
PBI / Re: tank morale - by buildings and woods
« Last post by Peterloo on March 21, 2018, 10:01:30 AM »
An interesting question on tank morale got asked last night and we struggling with the logic of it.

It states a tank suffers morale  if it has no friends in adjacent squares - so it ignores friends in the same square?
I say it counts friends in the same square - but it doesn't say that.

It's not logical captain.
