Miles and all,
Despite some rustiness around the rules, an excellent day. Played in the usual good spirits by the RFCM group. Oh, nothing of any interest was found in my boot.....
See you all at the Weekender.

You raise my suspicions Mike??

Always good to see you southerners. Made it back to the cold wilds of the North in good time. Planning more ACW now alongside my Western force which I think will be posse/outlaws as we have a few people doing Indians.

Also having picked up my SCW rules ( which are lovely) I need to crack on and paint up 24 buildings.

... alongside my Western force which I think will be posse/outlaws as we have a few people doing Indians.

I liked the idea of getting a core "cowboy" force that could be gunmen, morphing into posse or even into cattlemen [3 forces for the price of one, if a little poetic licence is allowed...], with the added advantage that there is such a wide range of usable figures within the Western range.

I followed Martin's tip and did some head-swaps with ECW wide-brimmed hats (pack 52), and also used "broad brimmed hat (Confederate)" (pack 32) to ring the changes further. Both seemed to work very well, and mean that I have no duplicate figures in my mounted force.

I just need to find the time to finish painting them...

I've still not been brave enough to tackle head swaps!

I've still not been brave enough to tackle head swaps!

I found a good start was to twist off the first head. You then have a useless figure, so have to do something about it!

There's a thread somewhere on this Forum giving lots of good advice.

Really simple Sean, I try to pick the figures that do not have the head cast with the weapon, hand, arm to close.

With a pair of pliers twist the head off, it is better to twist the head off as it leaves the shoulders level.  With a sharp mapping pin, the one that looks like a dockside bollard, press a centre mark on the centre of the neck.
With the heads sprue cut of the head you are going to use with as least half the pin left on the underside of the head.
Find and fit a 1.5mm drill into your drilling implement. Carefully drill a hole using the centre mark, try the head, if it does not sit down well drill a bit deeper.
The hole wants to be a very slack fit. Put the super glue into the hole and insert the head adjust the position of the head to  suit your requirements.

Stewart i will always try and fit you in, as you organise the weekender for us all. Itís only right I should try and include you as you are a big part of RFCM rules and Games. I think also the CWB normally attracts a more ď localĒ group so another reason to include you, and Nigel as well when possible.
