Hammerin' Iron wreck casts to giveaway. UK only
« on: April 10, 2018, 12:06:26 PM »
I bought a bunch of wreck cast packs for myself to use for making wreckage markers for Hammerin Iron. After putting half a dozen together I have a few left over, which being light wont cost me a lot to mail out to anyone (certainly not enough to worry so these are freebies) especially since they are already effectively damaged.
I hopefully have attached a picture.
Anyone want any or all of them sent? It an Essex, ADVance and Governor Moore I think....

Sure - a good home rather than being chucked out was the aim - they are yours, then. The pack came with funnels for all of them, the piston wheel for the ferry and a pair of deck guns for it too, so they'll be in there as well.

PM me a name and address to use and I'll get them in the post Saturday morning on my way to rugby (unless I can persuade my other half to send them from work before then).

Sounds a good gift from one gamer to another. Excellent.
Do note however they are not "miscasts" They are deliberately made as wrecks. Hence not de-gassed etc. Certainly not mis-casts.  Don't want anyone to think we sell on sub-standard products.

As in all resin processes things do wonky. But as you say they are great for Wrecks and debris on the "battlefield".

Martin, we know that the workshop has the highest standards to faithfully reproduce your masters.
They have excellent quality control, you only have to reflect on how very rarely you see a poor casting.
You only have to look in the metal bin to see how few are rejected, due to poor casting.
The resin casting has the same high standards.

My point Miles was that these have not gone wonky, but are deliberately made like that so that players can purchase wrecks cheaply. If it is broadcast that PP sells "miscasts" then .....not to worry.

All I know is these rather nicely cast pieces do make lovely "battlefield
" debris for which we are all thankful for.
May I add the PP modern US Marines do with very little modifacations make lovely Modern British Soldiers, as I am making a force up for "Team Yankee" game. Once I 've finished them I will post some pictures.

Apologies - I was introduced to them in this thread http://rulesforcommonman.uk/smf/index.php?topic=543 and miscasts was used there, I just re-read the emails from the workshop last night and they did mention they were deliberate odd casts of the moulds - but I missed that in the initial read of exchange so carried on using an incorrect term here.....

I'll edit the thread title to fix things for posterity and quick viewers....

Yes, I have painted and mounted them with dramatic puffs of cotton wool on painted CDs, so when a ship sinks I can pop one down in the hex affected. As ships move in and out I can spin the CD mounted model to line up with ships entering the hex and so hopefully not interfere with the game at all but reminding people to take relevant tests.

No problem - Id rather see them getting some use than getting discarded as excess!

Must say that the wrecks are nice models and enhance the look of a game as ships go down.

Its much better than leaving a regular model on its side to show wreckage.....which is what I had been doing up until now...
