New Year plans
« on: November 30, 2017, 11:04:49 AM »
I always try and set some gaming goals for each year. I rarely stick to them but it might be fun for people to list their top5 gaming goals before years end and then to review them in 12 months time.

Mine are...(subject to change)

1. Finish rebuilding my Samurai, Wars of the Roses and AWI armies (ok cheating already!)
2. Attend as many RFCM related events as possible.
3. Not to buy into any new periods or games that I know I'll have no time for.
4. Get my office/wargames room sorted so it's less of a mess and mire inviting to sit in and do hobby.
5. Review all of my scenery and get it in a more presentable state. For instance I made a load of hills out of polystyrene, most of which are damaged.

All subject to change. Deadline to commit is 31.12.17 at 23:59hrs!

Great post, Sean, but why under "Grumbles"? Are you predicting even before the start of the year that you will fail to fulfill your own promises?  :)

Ha! Not sure what happened there. I'm blaming fat fingers or Freudian slip.

1. Paint two 6mm Hellenistic armies for TtS.

2. Paint more PP Belgians and Germans for small scale 1914 actions.

3. Complete my 6mm BBB FPW armies.

4. Paint my monk buntai for Ronin.

5. Paint extra ACW 6mm bases for BBB Bull Run at Joy of Six in July. This will have to be my priority.

I think 3 and 4 are the ones I am most likely not to stick to. As for Seanís goal of not being tempted into another period at the moment, I think that I will also have to adopt that one.

Here goes...
  • try to stick to the "half an hour's painting a day" (at least on average) principle - this seems to be key for me to getting anything done
  • finish my "mixed Cowboys" Western and WW1 British forces
  • complete my Vietnam and Western scenery
  • attend as many RFCM events as possible
  • stretch goal (unless we get started on a piratical theme first...): start and finish a PBI force

Oh how I wish. Like the colonel I am attempting to paint for roughly an hour a day, preferably before breakfast and walking the dog. This really does help move things along.

1: Finish painting WOR army and maybe expand it.
2: Finish painting pirates, sailors and ships and come up with some workable rules for fighting. May not be realistic but this is more occasion fun project than real.
3: Considering getting a bucket of really cheap plastic figures (those 100 men for £1 type of thing.) And some bag of marbles for old time sake. I would not bother tom paint them of course.
4: Get on with model railway!!!!!
5: Look forwards to Martin's potential sci-fi game.
6: Finish slow burning settlers army.
7: Would lobectomy do a 6mm army if I can find nice figures and a reliable retailer. I love the idea of a mass battle being a mass battle, rather than the usual 'these four bases represent a whole regiment's kind of thing as I find it hard to visualise that.
